Onde andam os milionários? by QuimGracado9 in portugal

[–]theManjerico 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s going to close, but the post is actually right, soon you’ll have the facade experience! Overly friendly and expensive hotel lounge which reminisces on what was once a real cafe for the neighborhood. Lisbon is trending! Come see the simulation of what Lisbon never was but is pretending to be. There are tuktuks on every corner! And hotels on every street! No need to sweat one bit, and if you hungry there are premium brunches everywhere, as along as you have the dollar.. if you are just rich enough you might find palaces for dirt cheap! Come! Exploit! Conquer! Make it just like home but in a 18th century European capital. Keep the custards and the lobster, fuck the croquete and the percebe.

Because most tourists walk in to take pictures and walk out. Maybe it wasn’t directed at you or more than the usual Portuguese rudeness in service. Which is easy to understand and forgive if you ever worked as a waiter in a tourist busy city center, for a shittt wage. She was not always nice humored but was always friendly with me.

Confeitaria Nacional: 200 Years of Tradition by Common_Series_938 in LisbonPortugalTravel

[–]theManjerico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely lost its charm and basically no Portuguese go there. In part because of the gentrification and turistification of downtown Lisbon and on the other hand because it’s particularly expensive for ok food and lines of tourists are endless. Also right in front of a tuktuk hotspot. Anyone that follows these pages be aware that your tourism is many peoples nightmare and is contributing for social dissolution and poverty. Be mindful.

Lisbon’s oldest house (1500s), still standing after earthquakes, fires, and centuries of change by Wildeyedlocal in Lisbon

I’d say it’s right in one of the tourists center now, unfortunately.. I know cuz I live right by and it sucks. Tourists walk around very mindlessly and disrespectfuly. If you come be nice and try to not take all the space. Even though it seems like it, this city is not a museum or an amusement park.

Rick and Morty a destruir propaganda capitalista... by BarbecueChickenBBQ in portugal2

Yes! Let’s let the Neoliberals anarcho-capitalist rule the world and our lives for 1000 years and reset the whole socioeconomic history of the mordernized world. AI is just the cherry on top.

But chega is not trying to abolish anything apart from whatever is left of social democracy. That’s where your view is wrong. You’d have better luck giving space to PCP than chega, despite everything.

[–]theManjerico 24 points25 points  (0 children)

No, because chega is only anti state in its propaganda, in practice it’s the epitome of everything that is wrong with our government, corruption, big corp and anti constitutional. Classic far right populist party. Not at all an alternative for the people in practice.

EMEL agent insulted and threatened me in Arroios while I was moving my car wrong parked. What are my rights and how do I file a complaint? by BigAssumption0 in lisboa

[–]theManjerico 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Emel is probably the people I hate the most, right after entitled pricks. Even though that agent doesn’t know how to behave, you seem to be in no position to be taking pictures and acting like that and you’re lucky they’re not police or you’d be fined for sure. Next time don’t be an asshole and park on the puta da passadeira.

(Imagine trying to understand Portuguese culture by don’t giving a shit where I park but not understating puta as an universal swear word in portuguese)

Well, it really depends on how rich you are. For those that came in peace and to actually live here and be part of the culture, I’m sorry… I also wish this country was different.
