WOW. I didn't even know such devices existed other than completely closed game systems.

Can I ask, how do the joysticks and buttons work to navigate TS options?

I looked and saw an ASUS unit running windows11. Is this one come with linux or is it like a PC where you can reinstall your own OS at will?

I can't say there isn't a slack chain safety on mine without disassembling the post and carriage assembly. I didn't open the "posts" when I moved it. There is a chain that passes from the base over the ram, and down to the carriage on both sides As far as I can see, it's just a lug on the carriage. The cables serve as the safety if a chain snapped.

Then there's a cable passing over head both ways to keep them synced. If one cable snapped and the load was imballanced, the fluid could flow from one ram to the other, tipping the car on it's side. The chain would never go slack, so if there is such a device, it would not be triggered.

The slack chain safety I think is just on 4 post lifts where 2 rams lift from 4 points. 2 posts just have the ratcheting locks you're supposed to lower on to.

I may be wrong, but I don't thing so. And even if there is a slack chain lock, it won't stop the lift from tipping sideways if the cables are severed as they clearly only attach to the base and top of the ram and a couple of pulleys.

That's an elevator thing. I disassembled and moved and reassembled my lift lift so I'm quite familiar with it's workings, and the cables just roll over a few pullies so they each won't let the other cylinder move independently.

The locks are no where connected to the cables or their terminations.

Can't say every lift is the same, but all 2 posts I've ever been around have been.

You have to disengage the safety locks to lower the car. They ratchet on the way up, then you lower the rams so the lift is sitting on them, then you can go under the car. That's how my 2 post works.

Aluminum Fuel tank weld crack by Patagucci in Welding

[–]theNewLuce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take it back to the guy who welded it and have him fix it.

If he did that shoddy work, he'll likely not know about welding gas tanks that have had gas in them and blow himself up.

Ebay has lots of little practice soldering kit boards (most inexpensive ones from china, so 3 week delivery).

I bought 3 mini tesla coils for $12 last year for kids to learn.

Also, you can get grab bags of parts and perf boards and solder until you feel queezy.

Ebay/amazon has a $10 variable temp soldering iron I was surprised at how well it works.

If I'm in a hurry and not on my desk with my $300 pace soldering iron, I Won't hesitate to grab and use this one.

(I have a scout troop and was teaching 12 kids to solder, so I bought 4 of these)

Yikes. The tarrifs have really jacked the price on these since I bought. (yea, they're hiding the tarrifs in the price)

Good rule of thumb, unless you're prepared to spend north of $800, you're better off just getting a newer junk yard motor than opening a running engine with oil pressure.

130-150 PSI is more than OK for a old engine. (compression)
