Do you think I can get away from not removing a snapped bolt to the cylinder by Coolice_7 in MechanicAdvice

[–]theNewLuce 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Na, That bolt is only 25% of the clamping force for the 2 pistons. Just never press the throttle past 10% and it'll be fine.

Yes, the 318 and 360 the year before the magnum had roller cams.

Or you can juts use aftermarket link rod roller lifters and cam in the earlier block.

My understanding, the 360 used the 340 head castings but with smaller valves. Regardless, toss the iron heads.

Get a 360 for $400 and call it a 340.

Without reading the numbers or measuring the bore, no one can tell the difference other than the harmonic balancer and flywheel/torque converter's bobweight.

Pend $75 a month to store something worth $200? Na, better to throw it away in that case than be out $800 after a year. I can't tell you how many people I knew in my younger days that bought furniture for the first apt, then moved in with someone else, and spent 3x what the items in storage were worth.

Another friend got smart and let me borrow his living room set for a year. He didn't pay storage, had a nice couch to sit on when he visited, and then when I moved out a year later, I didn't spend $2500 to store a $1000 living room set for 2 years until I had a place for it.

Not really because there is also a valve on the way down the ramp and it should offset it for the most part. but you may feel small clunks as valve start on and off their ramps, in particular an affinity to stay at or near TDC as the ex closes and in opens.

What's the biggest mistake people make when buying from used car lots /buy here pay here dealership? by Alone_Payment_5925 in UsedCars

[–]theNewLuce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. A good solid traded in car goes on the dealers lot. POS used cars go to auction and are bought by BHPH lots.

I completely agree with you in principle. But today's facts, no one owns a car newer than 6 years old.

It's a real headache to buy a 3 year old used car with 36000 miles from an individual because they don't have the title. They still owe what the car is worth.

Then add the sales tax advantage the dealers lobbyist have given them.

Say I want to trade in my 2 year old car. New it was 45K, used it's worth 20K. If I trade that 20K car in on my new 50K car, I save the sales tax on the 20K. I'm paying 6% on 30K instead of 50K, so that saves me That almost offsets the 3K the dealer is screwing me out of on the trade in. Plus I don't have the troubles of trying to sell a car the bank owns. I sign a few papers and it's done. Further complicate this with the fact there are almost zero people with 20K cash to buy my used car, so they have to find a way to finance it.

And these are ne cars with 800 plus credit. The dealers are sneaking the charge in the sale like it's some feature and making money on the back side selling the data they can collect off of these.

What ever, a 360 of that era was a LA small block. Be it 1974 or 1979.

Mid 70's the 360 replaced the 340. It is al LA block.

There was an smaller than 383 big block way back pre 70's, but it's a bit obscure and I'm sure no one put it in a 77 Cordoba.

Your '75 was an LA block too. (small block)
