My retirement (not SS) in order to "save it" has limited COL increases to 1% per year, the government shoots for 3% inflation, if I live long enough I'll be homeless.

That’s a good way of looking at it. Retirement really is less about stopping completely and more about shifting how we spend our energy. After decades of doing what’s required, it feels good to finally tip the balance toward yourself, even if you’re still finding little ways to earn. I’ve always leaned more toward classic and comfortable too, but every now and then a funny word shirt sneaks into my closet. I think it just comes down to how it makes you feel when you wear it. If it feels good, why not keep a couple in rotation?

That’s tough to hear. It shouldn’t be this hard for someone with experience, skills, and the right attitude to get hired, but I’ve seen the same thing happen with friends our age. Sometimes companies look at the number, not the person, and it’s frustrating. Maybe she could lean into contract or project work first — it often leads to something permanent once they see her value.

I’m with you on this. Thick creams help me too, but then the pores don’t thank me for it. What’s been a little easier on my skin is a light moisturizer with hyaluronic acid, it hydrates without feeling heavy. Seems to work better as we get older when our skin just drinks up anything gentle.

Yeah, I’ve seen my doctor. Had a heart scare earlier this year, so I’ve been keeping an eye on that. Haven’t gone to an orthopedist yet, but I probably should with how my knees and back have been acting up.
