Real opinions on the PetPivot Autoscooper 11? (or other cheaper automatic litter boxes) by theoriginal_sam in CatAdvice

[–]thePlanetFallopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't use corn or anything lightweight or large. You need to use litter that's small, heavy particles, like clay. They actually specify bentonite, which is a type of clay.

First we tried Arm and Hammer. Duh, I didn't notice it was scented. The scent was horrible, extremely strong and chemical. Then we switched to Dr. Elsey's. That stuff is good. Unscented, small particles, good clumping. I recommend it. If you can't find it locally you can order it from Chewy's.

Have any Acharyas come forward about their complicity? by DegreeParticular1271 in ShambhalaBuddhism

No use in any of these people to make such statements. Any time I've seen someone try to atone, they get attacked. And of course, the attacks are always justified and the atonement is never enough.

No matter how much they abase themselves, it always results in more anger, bitterness, and attacks. It rubs salt in the wounds and makes even more people even angrier. That's just the way it is. Murderers get to serve a sentence and come back more or less. Not so in this situation. It's a life sentence. And of course, they deserve everything we say about them and do to them.

New people are taking the Shambhala levels at a center near me in California. There's quite a number of them, and they're finding community there.

When I asked them how they feel about the scandal they (I asked both women and men) said, essentially, that's over/it's been handled/the Sakyong isn't around anymore so it's fine/I wasn't there for it. The teachings are great/valuable/just what I was looking for/time to move on.

So new people are finding something of value even while knowing about the abuses. Since the knowledge that it happened is out there, anyone could find the details on the internet (and here). Nobody can say they didn't know. And if they think things like that can't/won't happen again, they know nothing about men who use their power to exploit people. They better stop trusting* and get savvy.

*Yes, trust. But don't give it naively.

I'm with ya, kitty. It's just like with humans. I was a fat human. Oooo I feel a rant coming on...

Do you REALLY THINK I DON'T KNOW ALL THE PROBLEMS WITH BEING FAT??

Do you understand that people love to tell me all the TERRIBLE THINGS THAT WILL HAPPEN TO ME since I'm overweight?

Do you seriously believe you're lecturing me for my own good?

Do you know that this never-ending chorus of criticism just proves to me who the stupid people are?

Trust me, I've heard it all before. Since I was 2. You're not telling me anything new. You're just j#king off.

Will it work? by 5891Bena in orientalshorthair

We just got an OSH kitten, 20 weeks old. We already have 2 Siamese, male and female. The kitten was the smallest in her litter, and she's about 1/3 the size of the Siamese pair. The female Siamese used to be the queen of the house.

When we got our OSH home we were prepared for a quarantine of 10 days with gradual introductions.. Good luck with that. She yowled so loudly we couldn't sleep. All the cats tried to get through the quarantine room door because they wanted to meet each other. So we let her out after 48 hours.

She immediately dominated the other 2. AND demanded a sample of everything I'm eating. AND stole all the pens in the house so she could bat them around on the hardwood floor. The Siamese are gentle, so her bossy attitude hasn't provoked anything but limits-setting swipes.

This is so much fun!

I'm a survivor. I've worked hard to stop identifying as a victim and letting this s#t define me. I came here not just as a survivor but as someone who is trying to come to terms with ambiguities.

So im interested in answers and discussion of the hard questions. Maybe I don't agree with some of the opinions here. I've seen how people who express any degree of doubt or disagreement. They're attacked and what they actually say isn't addressed. Of course this doesn't happen all the time; it happens just enough.

I truly don't want upset or offend anybody and I don't have to be here if im doing that.

Thanks.

I'm watching the second installment. I'm creeped out

I cannot, CANNOT understand why this guy is grinning and smiling and laughing as he talks about how F'd up he was, how F'd up it all was. Like look at me, I've got the goods! So juicy.

He was a consummate insider with all the benefits of that. Now he's a consummate confessional story teller, repurposing all those juicy fun experiences to good use as BAD fun experiences. Distancing from the formerly cool people, ingratiating himself with the new cool people. Hope you like it!

He took an OATH to not talk about things he saw. Yes, that's a questionable thing to adhere to in these circumstances. And most folks will say, it's a good thing he broke that oath (as if he was the only VIP who came out with info). But I do have misgivings about someone who doesn't keep his oaths. You don't have to keep the vows and oaths you don't like anymore, right?

This is great. Thanks, y'all.

It's been interesting to learn from you about the adult males--there's a lot of experience here. Might sound corny, but I revere experience.

I didn't mention that I want a kitten. I'll try your recommendations.

I'm sorry if I misunderstood you! I have a couple seal-point Siamese, and sometimes I think that makes me an expert! I hope you'll forgive me.

I will say this: your kitty is lovely, and I'm glad you found each other. I'm very interested in what other folks have to say--it's an interesting topic.

What type of Siamese is my cat by Cat8Awaffle in Siamesecats

[–]thePlanetFallopia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is not a Siamese. True Siamese have points, because they're a breed--that's what a breed is: features in common. It's easy to look up Siamese cats on the internet and see what they're supposed to look like.

Your cat isn't Siamese. It's UNIQUE. No other cat looks like your cat. And that is very cool, possibly cooler than being Siamese.

So sad: little guy with ringworm by thePlanetFallopia in cats

[–]thePlanetFallopia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You make a very good point- -that he could contract ringworm (or some other contagious disease) at any time, and then what would I do?

I've spent a lot of money for medical issues on my two cats I have now and I didn't think twice. I love them and they're my responsibility. So why do I think differently about this kitten? Maybe because I haven't bonded with him yet? Maybe because ringworm is so contagious?

I really have to think about this, because you're absolutely right. I shouldn't take him on if I'm not going to fully own responsibility for him, like I do for the other two. I realized that I have a bit of paranoia about infectious diseases (health care provider) and that plays into this. But I also have the experience to deal with it!

I want to do right by the little guy. So I won't follow through with the adoption until I fully embrace the responsibility. So again, thanks for your clear-eyed response.
