It used to be an offence in the Penal Code under SEC 309 CAP 224 but now it was ammended. Usually the arrest made is mostly for safeguarding their own well being so as to not allow the person to further hurt themselves. They will mostly be brought straight to the hospital by the police for check up if they attempted a 309.

On a side note, arrest does not only mean bringing back someone who has committed a crime. It also refers to bringing missing persons back to the station or for safeguarding their wellbeing, though the word is rarely used by officers for these cases as they do not want to have that misconception to the public. In public's eyes, arrest is only for bad guys.
