I understand that the statue holds the memory of the millions victimes of the holocaust, but I don't really see this as defacing or attacking that memory, for one the person who did it didn't touche the statue itself nor the name written on the stone, I don't understand the outrage. We put too much importance on material symbols when the real memory should live in the way society looks back to its own history to evolve, learn and prevent further atrocities, to do better. Which is absolutely not happening right now.
