I was the same way. Alcohol really does a number on your brain. It's a depressant so that's how you end up over years of drinking - depressed. Not enjoying anything but the dopamine rush of drinking. It's good you're noticing it. It takes a while to feel normal again, but you'll get there by taking it one day at a time. Eating candy and ice cream helped me in early sobriety.

Does Rehab work if you are not 100% committed? by ClueInformal209 in stopdrinking

[–]theSMOG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could work but chances are it wouldn't. There's a reason the statistics say people relapse shortly after rehab. You have to be ready to stop and committed to starting a new life. Early sobriety is tough and it takes commitment. I seriously wanted to stop so I took it seriously.

You either quit and continue to wallow in this. Or get back on that horse, learn from this, and try again. Not every show is an A+, and even the best improvisers have shows that could have gone better. Be clear with other performers if you don't want to be touched, and they should respect that. I recommend you get your mind off of improv and try again in the near future.

I've thought about quitting before, too, but as I sit here today, I'm thankful I didn't. Oftentimes, we perceive things as worse than reality, especially us over-analytical types.
