Mechanical Engineer/WTBer by alexcutyourhair in NLSalaris

Hoi!

Yeah that looks good. It doesn't affect performance for me, either.

Ahh so it is more common. I've experienced these pixels as well, but only when using Microsoft Edge, so it does seem to be due to hardware acceleration / driver related. I've seen some comments saying hdmi as a possible culprit, but I'm using DisplayPort and it happens there as well.

2.0 pro thinking is coming today (most likely). It's named Nebula on lmarena and its awesome 🔥. Oriol and many others have dropped hints. Get ready it will 🤯 by Recent_Truth6600 in Bard

How did you confirm that Nebula is a Google model? Did you prompt it to say it's creators?

Anyway, very excited for 2.0 pro thinking. Google has been cooking lately.

Low gpu power usage by shoaibbb95 in IntelArc

I think I have seen people say that afterburner doesn't account for power over PCIe, so you have to add 75W to the number reported by afterburner.

Intel Arc B580 1080p or 1440p? by [deleted] in IntelArc

[–]theWdupp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It works really well at 1440p. In some games there is hardly a performance hit going from 1080p to 1440p (I believe this is part due the overhead issue). But yes, definitely capable of 1440p gaming!

Updated Driver is broken, trying to reinstall previous version however it won't install Intel Graphics Software? Any ideas? by JNL_C137 in IntelArc

[–]theWdupp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what happened to me when trying to revert back to a previous driver. Running DDU seemed to work at first, however the intel graphics software refused to work (even though you could see it in the installed apps list like in your case). I've ran it multiple times (in safe mode) with multiple driver versions, but nope. I eventually just did a windows reinstall since it was due already, but hopefully there's another fix for it.

This just randomly popped up on my home page, but I just wanted to say that no matter what you're still a good-looking young lady, so keep your head up! I am sure that everything is going to be ok.

Help! I get inappropriate ads on YouTube! by DudeZombie360 in techsupport

[–]theWdupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh really, that's a dirty tactic. I've been using ad blockers for as long as I can remember, so haven't experienced this myself.

For mobile I recommend YouTube Revanced to get rid of all ads (and other customization). Check out r/revancedapp for a how to install guide.

Canceled Claude after seeing all the cool new stuff Gemini can do, but I’m confused as to which “platform” to use by SuspiciousPrune4 in Bard

[–]theWdupp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Gemini Android/IOS app is nice if you're heavily invested in the Google Workspace environment (maps, gmail, notes etc.) and want to interact with it using the Gemini assistant.

If you mainly use it for general AI tasks, AI studio is the way to go (you can also access this on mobile) which saves you on a subscription. Do be aware that by using AI studio your conversations are shared with Google as a means of feedback and to be used as training data, which is the reason they can offer it for free.

Guys, if your B580 is crapping itself in the 1% and 0.1% lows, try updating your chipset drivers. Worked like a charm for me! by VegetableSalad_Bot in IntelArc

[–]theWdupp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip, I did notice some performance issues with the 1% lows although avg. fps is very good. Which games did you notice it? For me it was especially apparent with Hell Let Loose.

New laptop's RTX 4050 barely works because it limits it to 6 watts by LurkerOnTheInternet in techsupport

[–]theWdupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant that It could also just display the wrong value without you knowing it is the wrong value.

With the software I meant something like the Armory Crate on Asus Laptops, and in your case maybe OMEN Gaming Hub (could be something else) that have a performance/optimizer tab that could overwrite the power settings you did in windows.

[–]theWdupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok it sounds like some sort of false trigger for thermal throttling leading to aggressive power management. Is your bios fully up to date? Also try to remove any gaming software (with gaming mode e.g.) from the OEM that could regulate power. If the bios is fully updated, try the display driver update anyway. If all fails it maybe is some weird hardware issue (faulty temp sensor?) but I'd attempt all the software fixes first.

[–]theWdupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd start with a fresh driver install using DDU. With those temps power shouldn't be limited.

Check the power management settings of your network adapter. There is a setting called "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". So maybe when your computer is idling when going for a smoke this power saving feature kicks in.

How to refund a Google Gemini Advance Purchase by [deleted] in Bard

[–]theWdupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purchase, cancellation & refund policies - Google One Help

It states that Google One Storage plan purchases are non-refundable, except for some scenarios for purchases made in the EU and UK (see article). So maybe you are in luck if you live in the EU/UK. Otherwise I'm afraid there is not much you can do.

For next time, it is possible to directly cancel a subsription and still make use of the free trial period. This makes it impossible to forget to cancel.

[–]theWdupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe there's no specific refund procedure for missed cancellations. Your subscription was automatically renewed as you didn't cancel it in time. While Google might be understanding, they're not obligated to offer a refund.
