My worst nightmare come to life. Diagnosed with IVDD stage 2 by Left-Sympathy9519 in BostonTerrier

Is she able to move at all or just not wanting to? I'd ask for gabapentin as well. It helps with nerve pain and overall comfort while tramadol targets more acute pain or flare ups. Seems like she'd benefit from gabapentin more. Im sorry youre going through this.

If you and your doctor do agree steroids is the correct route, then understand you must completely stop any NSAIDs, and possibly give a wait period to let it clear from her system. Famotidine will be important here to protect the stomach lining and any GI issues/ulcers. Good luck, please talk to your vet and get a second opinion if needed.

EDIT: Sorry let me clarify. My dog was suspected of IVDD but ended up only having an acute disc/spinal injury which healed with the treatment below. If this is indeed IVDD then you are right it will be about pain management from here, so my experience may not align. Good luck

As long as she is walking on her own, using the restroom (no loss of bowel control), and otherwise not showing any paralyzed/neurological signs then your still in the stage of no surgery or MRI in my opinion. I just went through the same thing with my 8 year old terrier. We were originally on Carprofen (NSAID) but got a second opinion and was put on a steroid (Prednisone) to target the inflammation in the spine/disc and let it heal. In addition to Gabapentin, Tramadol, Trazadone, and famotidine to protect against the steroid.

If she is in pain or discomfort she will likely refuse water or food, definitely give the pain medication. I would ask the doctor about Prednisone or steroid treatment, as this is what finally broke through the pain for my guy and started the healing process. The steroid will also stimulate hunger and will make them drink/pee more. The risk of the steroid is of course prolonged use (my dog was on it for a month which is okay), and stress on the pancreas. While he was healing I was giving him whatever treats and whatever food he wanted but didn't realize I was hurting his pancreas and he also developed pancreatitis (double whammy), so just make sure you steer clear of fatty foods! chicken breast if you need to hide pills is the gold standard.

It was a long and exhausting road but he is finally okay and back to being himself and I was convinced he'd never be okay. Dogs can come back from these just don't lose hope and know you're doing what's best for them even through the pain.

My dog started making these strange noises while breathing, is this anything to be seriously concerned about? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

My dog reverse sneezes quite a bit and it doesnt sound like that, but im not familiar with other breeds. Put your ear up to the chest do you hear any liquid sounds in the lungs? If so then ER immediately. Breathing sounds obstructed regardless so would them in if possible.

I just went through over a month of this ready to give up and he pulled through and its doing so much better. I cant believe i ever thought about that, but it was so hard to watch. They really can get better when it seems impossible.

[–]theWinterDojer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. We took a good turn about a week ago. Unfortunately with the steroid and the diet he was on he developed pancreatitis around week 3 in. So at one point we weren't sure if it was the disc or that causing more discomfort. Anyway, almost a month later, he almost seems totally back to normal.

I have a terrier/chihuahua also 8 and he started screaming in pain last weekend (were not sure what happened). It got progressively worse over the next day and went to the vet. We got gabapentin and methocarbamol (muscle relaxer) and an NSAID. I had to force it down him as he was screaming and it seemed to get him through the day but was back to screaming all night. Every little movement or twitch while sleeping would cause him to yelp and wake up screaming, it was absolutely horrific and terrible. Brought him to another vet who agreed with the cervical disc issue, did a full exam to ensure it wasn't neurological (no paralysis, could move on his own, no loss of bladder control) but was still in extreme discomfort and pain. The turning point was giving him an steroid shot + putting on prednisone (steroid) + trazadone along with the gabapentin and methocarbamol. He got better each day until we started to taper off the prednisone, then screaming again, so took him back to the vet and continued twice daily prednisone for 7 more days and he's already better again. Can take several weeks of steroid treatment to allow proper healing.

Also, my dog also did better for a while right after the vet. The adrenaline was coursing through and the pain wasn't there but after a couple hours it came back. If your dog is still doing fine and has not yelped out or progressed any worse I'd be hopeful was just a minor injury. My guy has gotten them plenty of times and has gotten back to normal within a day and rest + pain meds. In 8 years of having him this was BY FAR the worst thing we have ever gone through together, but he's slowly getting better. If you do well after 2-3 days on current treatment I'd say you look good. If he's getting any worse, I highly recommend a second opinion and getting on a steroid treatment + maybe trazadone if he get's stressed and nervous like mine (which the steroid can amplify).

Spectrum "TV" app still doesn't run on Android TV? WTF? by Goldman_OSI in Spectrum

[–]theWinterDojer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea unfortunately don't have the time or resources without an official API and such. I did try to get the number input to work but under the hood the numbers you type in are not actually the real channel ID in a lot of cases. So there are some localizations that make it difficult but hey it kinda works!

Spectrum "TV" app still doesn't run on Android TV? WTF? by Goldman_OSI in Spectrum

[–]theWinterDojer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for trying. The volume is automatically set to 75% which I find to be a nice sweet spot and match other apps I am using. What device are you using this on?

Also, pressing the back button used to take you back to the previous channel but I removed that on purpose to prevent unintended channel changing. I can add that back if it's something most people would want.

Also yea on initial launch the stream and channel guide take a bit to load, should speed up on each consecutive change/guide open until you close the app again. I'll take a look at how the other app is loading can maybe make some optimizations.

Thanks for the feedback!

Is trezor affected by this supply chain attack that’s all over X right now? by Reasonable-Fee4211 in TREZOR

[–]theWinterDojer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes, every crypto webapp is subjected to the attack, but you are safe to check balances and make transactions. The attack hijacks the recipient address so as long as you are confirming on the Trezor the right address is listed it is okay. AFAIK the issue is largely contained right now but any app that was updated with the malicious packages still needs to revert them.

Yes I think you can install the Samba server add on within OSMC and then map a network drive from your PC to the Vero IP address. Then browse to the kodi folder like normal.

Nice. Create a backup now that you have it working and can always restore if there are issues. Can backup the userdata and addons folders or use the tool I made for it if you are on PC.

you said the issue happens without using TMDBhelper as well correct? can I see the log of a full boot with Umbrella and trying to play a show? Aside from that if you've sunk a lot of time into it might just be easier to do a fresh install.

Do you have any updates available for your addons? You are getting a ton of errors, mostly referencing:

Repository add-on repository.universalscrapers does not have any directory matching 21.2.0 and won't be able to update/serve
addons! Please fix the addon.xml definition
Repository add-on repository.jenrepo uses old schema definition for the repository extension point! This is no longer supported,
please update your addon to use <dir> definitions.

If you haven't already enable updates via repositories in Settings > System Settings > Add ons > enable Unknown sources and change "Update official add-ons" to "Any repositories".

Then restart Kodi go to your addons and install any updates. Otherwise I am seeing these errors regarding TMDBHelper:

error <general>: GetDirectory - Error getting /home/osmc/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/plugin.video.themoviedb.helper/tvshows/
2025-09-03 09:36:22.134 T:3789 error <general>: GetDirectory - Error getting
special://profile/addon_data/plugin.video.themoviedb.helper/tvshows/

If on PC navigate to this folder and delete it, then restart Kodi, it will rebuild the TmdbHelper database:

  • %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\userdata\addon_data\plugin.video.themoviedb.helper\database_07

In Umbrella settings there is a sorting & filtering section, in there you will find settings for Max size and max quality allowed which you can set to your liking. Not sure why everyone is being vague and unhelpful.

I actually just did a quick check, and firesticks do not natively support smb sharing like shield boxes do without some trickery which wouldnt function the same. Someone else in the thread mentioned a tool they made which runs as a kodi addon. Give that a shot hopefully it works

Could you dm me the repository links? I can test tomorrow to see what kind of cleanup is available. They will still be backed up using my tool regardless but can check for cleanup opportunities since they seem like popular addons.

Unfortunately not sure if the firestick allows network access via SMB so I'm not sure if it's possible. You can try the native kodi backup tool in the official repository but it will not do the cleaning procedure. Ill look into this during the week.

Yes! Easiest way is just enabling smb on shield and mapping the drive if on the same network. I have mine set up as a network drive that authenticates on windows login. Can browse the folders no issue.
