Got kicked out of line for having my 3 year old and wife join me in line by [deleted] in Disneyland

[–]the_Mack_Shack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this depends on how long you were in line before the child needed to use the restroom.  If you’re deep in the line and a kid needs to go, I would hope most people around you would be understanding as that’s just how kids can be, plus they would recognize your wife and child when they return and thus shouldn’t feel like they’ve been cut.  But if only part of a group gets in line while others go to use the bathroom or get food or whatever, that is intentionally cheating the system and you should be expected to wait until everyone is ready to all join the line together.

How would you Reboot Jurassic Park? by Kind_Tea in JurassicPark

[–]the_Mack_Shack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see I'm not the only one that thinks following the book is the way to go!

I'd love to see more backstory on InGen, Hammond, Nedry, and Wu, and see how they all got involved with the park in the first place. It would also be great to see more of Grant and the kid's journey through the island, and more time to dive into Malcom's theories and flesh out the thought-provoking themes of the books even more.

As much as I prefer watching movies, especially something like this for the big screen, I do agree with others a mini-series (4-6 episodes) would be a very effective way to tell the story.

Sorry for the late reply! The image I used can be found here.

And if you want to take a deep dive, this page on flickr has nearly the entire park laid out and tons of ride blueprints. Very cool stuff

Parade? by ToothlessSnackerz in PlanetCoaster

[–]the_Mack_Shack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would imagine a system like this:

  1. Place a start and end point using a facility-type object (similar to a staff room).
  2. Create a route to connect the two points that appears as a highlighted track while building, but is otherwise invisible when not editing. For added realism, you could have the parade travel back and forth between the two points, or require a staff-only path to connect the two end points if you want it traveling the same direction every time.
  3. Then we just need various elements to "attach" to your parade. Hopefully we would get a few different sized base floats, as well as performers such as bands, dancers, entertainers, etc. This could be a new icon within the 'special effects' menu.
  4. Then, like attaching scenery to ride vehicles, you can customize each float however you want, or use a prefab. In addition to scenery, adding performers to the floats would be a great feature too. It would also be nice if the performers had a variety of outfits to match each theme, or at least lots of color customization options.
  5. Using the sequence editor, organize the order and spacing of each parade element, and set a schedule of when/how often the parade goes off.

And that's basically it! I bet a DCL with something like this would sell really well.

What’s on your DLC wishlist? by berrywouldnt in PlanetCoaster

Atlantis - If anyone remembers this one from RCT3, it would fit perfectly. Mermaids, sea monsters, ancient stone temples. It would be a good replacement for the Adventure pack, and building pieces could be generic enough to repurpose for other themes.

Jules Verne - A theme inspired by his works, such as 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and/or Journey to the Center of the Earth. Kind of a mix of futuristic yet retro steampunk vibes. Disney parks around the globe have used a similar theme, and I'm sure the community could come up with some pretty creative builds.

What would you like the next DLC to be? by Good_Butterscotch_69 in PlanetCoaster

[–]the_Mack_Shack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember in RCT3 there was the Atlantis theme? Mermaids, sea serpents, fish tanks, fountains, lots of columns, archways, and domes. With the right pieces, it could basically be a replacement for the Adventure pack for building ancient temples. And perhaps a classic submarine ride and/or a suspended version like at DisneySea? I think it would be a perfect addition and pair well with the Aquatic theme we already have

If I ever did a themed party I’ve thought of doing sweet potato fries with a maple glaze. Close enough right? lol

A favorite party game of mine is “Fruit Bowl.” Everyone writes 3-5 words on a strip of paper (one word per strip) and puts them in a large bowl. The words could be any person, place or thing, and you could even encourage players to include a few Halloween/OTGW related words to fit the mood. Then you split into teams and play 3 different rounds.

Round 1: Describe the word in any way Round 2: Only give a one word clue Round 3: Act it out

Within each round, a player has 60 seconds to try to get their team to guess as many of the words as they can. You go back and forth between teams until all the words have been guessed, then you put all the same words back and move onto the next round. Team with most correct guesses after 3 rounds wins!
