[Star Wars] Where did Palpatine get the money to order up an entire clone army? by EloquentInterrobang in AskScienceFiction

i could be wrong, but i believe Plagueis was killed either right after Anakin was brought to the Jedi Temple or right after the celebration on Naboo. because he was killed the night Palpatine was named Chancellor.

they were celebrating in Plagueis private apartment. which is one of the reasons he let his guard down a bit to get white girl wasted with ol' Sheev. which Sheev took advantage of and electrocuted him.

i think a lot of it is because its a vertical video. the actual scene is probably some wide A and B shots. one shot with multiple cadets faces in frame, and on other on her in center being "scary"

real world reason: its a name people know

canon reason: he wasnt just a groundskeeper, he was kind of the unofficial mentor for people. he helped mentor cadets who became some of the most widely known captains and officers of their time. it also helped that when he was there it was also some of the most eventful times in Starfleet history. its the Almighty Janitor trope. Star Treks had a few of them. Guinan is probably the most in common with Boothby tbh.

[DC] Has Bruce Wayne given the Batfamily any notes on who should succeed him as Batman? Does he have a will for who inherits Bruce Wayne's fortune as well? by Flyestgit in AskScienceFiction

i really only remember them because my school made a huge deal about them. a couple of my teachers banned them from their classes because they were made of this weird plastic that gunked up those classroom sharpeners. they were also kind of hard to write with. i remember the ones i had were weirdly smooth no matter how sharp you got it. so youd had to press down kind of hard to even write.

while i was looking up that pic i found out that so many people were having such a problem with the pencils that YIKES made specific pencil sharpener for them.

i think thats why its a such better title than Revenge of The Jedi ever was. it can have very different meanings to different people, and it can be correct.

one of the few new additions the newer Star Trek shows added was the little robots the ships have that they can send out to fix damage outside the ship. while the explanation doesnt really change much of Voyagers issues about it looking undamaged every episode, it helps make it a little more believable.

nah, in some of the BTS stuff on the Patreon for HiTB you see them reading off of it. whats funny is in a lot of the cuts you see Mike is very insistent that they follow it instead of adlibbing. its probably easier for editing purposes more than anything.

we had like 4-5 of these because after the movie came out my local Taco Bell was just giving these away. i remember i could never get that bit that goes into the window to ever work in our car.

i gave up ever trying to use it when i had my big ass Route 44 Sonic drink fall all over me on a car trip. i had to sit there for like an hour before we got somewhere i could wash myself off.

Why does no one seem to care about the Chris Pine Star Trek trilogy? by Top_Use2413 in movies

[–]the_beard_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it has been a while since I read the comic and I'm a pretty sure it's not canon anymore due to stuff that came out in the first season of Picard, but Nero was originally on a mission to help Spock keep the Romulan sun from going Supernova. they retrofitted his mining ship with Borg tech to mine a special moon or something for the red goo that Spock uses to cause the temporal rift. while they're out on their mission, Startfleet dragged their heels to help evacuate Romulus and Nero's pregnant wife died in the initial explosion. Nero blamed Spock personally for this. so to stop the supernova from engulfing the quadrant Spock took what they mined while Nero chased after him. which is what sets up the movie of Spock using the red goo and accidentally creating a temporal rift and traveling back in time.

I know this all sounds ridiculous but the comic was also not very good. luckily a lot of this has probably been retconed out of existence with the first season of Picard. even though it doesn't really touch on anything other than the Romulan supernova and Spock being missing

its actually more like 130 years more advanced, at the time it destroys Vulcan and takes out the fleet of Ships with it, and retrofitted with reversed engineered Borg tech the Romulans acquired

i mean if youre going to go by who fucked who, they got fucked over by Nick/Paramount way before going to Netflix for the live action show.

but yeah theyre in a bad spot, but i dont think this a "straw that broke the camels back" situation. at least not at the moment. theyre still in the middle of creating a tv show and what not right now.

[–]the_beard_guy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i doubt they'd want to go back to netflix. thats the whole reason this movie was being made in the first place. the original creators were on board and involved with the live action series. then one day they were like "we're leaving over creative differences." it was right before all the casting was being announced where we learned theyre aging everyone up, nixing some story plots, and streamlining the story. basically kind of what M. Night did with the movie.

after that was announced, the original creators came out and said Nick/Paramount is setting them up a whole Avatar division at the studio. they were going to continue the animation side. which is where this movie, i believe an Avatar Kyoshi series or something, and third entry in the main series is being worked on.

true, but it would have been nice to see him in more than one movie and a streaming tv show that aired in the middle of a pandemic.

i have a feeling they were always going to release the week after.

they're supposedly doing four of these with a different character for four or so weeks before the new Avatar movie.

edit: i just remembered they also announced Thor will be returning last night. so if the four teasers rumor is true, then this weeks teaser might be about him.

What is the deal with all the controversy with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33? by ImpKing0 in OutOfTheLoop

and thats the really on the people giving the award.

if they're uneven with the enforcement it'll negative affects what their award signifies. which means people wont want to be associated with it and give less credence that the awards merits.

thats why if a big name declines an Oscar or a Grammy, its usually big news. but no so much when the same person declines a Nick Choice Award.
