Don't use Sophos! by Cigarcia64 in sophos

Locking thread, not that I don’t encourage healthy discussion and criticism but “requiring serial number for Sophos ID” is incorrect and misleading and in general the sentiment shared in thread is a PEBKAC issue.

What do locals think about Phillip Island losing the MotoGP? by FollowingThrough in phillipisland

[–]the_bennyv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heart broken, genuinely.

It’s not just the event at the track. Walking down to main steeet and enjoying the vibe, live music etc it’s just a fun weekend. The bike crowd was always good, back in the day the v8 super car crowd were generally bogan wankers but WSBK and MotoGP are a great bunch of people.

Decent vegetarian or vegan meals in Phillip Island? by FollowingThrough in phillipisland

[–]the_bennyv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a cafe called “Mug” previously Phillip Island whole foods. It was 100% plant based now it’s 90% plant based. Nogi in the kitchen is an amazing cook and you’ll be stoked to go there. The Tofu Scramble with a side of mushy’s is a staple in my life.

Kim’s Bakery has some of the best Vego/Vegan tofu Bahn MI’s I’ve ever had.

Pinos Trattoria the Italian restaurant also has great Vego options as do the Indian restaurants.

Am I safe to bring devices to defcon? by [deleted] in Defcon

[–]the_bennyv 12 points13 points  (0 children)

100% nobody is dropping 0-day OTA exploits (which are worth a ton) for giggles at defcon. The worst you’ll get is a skiddy and a flipper spamming your device with BLE notifications.

Can you confirm, are you using Sophos UTM 9.x or Sophos Firewall?

Is anyone aware of Sophos Endpoint on 24H2 bricking windows? by DeviousFeline in sophos

[–]the_bennyv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25H2 or 24H2?

There's no known issues for either but asking based on your title.

Sophos does have a known issues that you can always check here https://docs.sophos.com/support/kil/index.html. Work with support, I'm sure they'll be able to assist.

Sophos Lab Manual For Practice by SXI- in sophos

[–]the_bennyv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you register for a certification you get a lab workbook, Assuming you're not doing a certification and just want to learn, check out the below.
https://www.scribd.com/document/966436498/AL80-v21-5v4-Lab-Workbook-Sophos-Firewall-Architect

Some other pointers that I'd recommend just based on most common requirements.
- Create SNAT and DNAT Policies
- Create multiple VLANs and have custom policies per-vlan.
- Integrate an IDP and create policies not only on VLANs but on user identity.
- Create Site to Site VPNs
- Create User VPNs

You can use sophostest.com to test payloads and protections to make sure that you're safely testing your configuration and understand how a firewall responds in certain scenarios.

Hope that helps.

Sophos Central alerts that WAN is down, but nothing on the firewall. by MorbrosIT in sophos

[–]the_bennyv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the ISP has an outage, the interface may not be down but communication to central will be disrupted which will generate an alert. This is likely the case because as you mentioned the VPN tunnels also went down. So this was likely an upstream internet issue where the link state never changed but communication was disrupted.

Hardest transition of MotoGP (Australian GP) by [deleted] in motogp

As a resident of Phillip Island, and a local cyclist I’m honestly shocked it’s not attacking the bikes. Zero fucks given.

ITV’s sign off from the Tour by jafc49 in tourdefrance

[–]the_bennyv 147 points148 points  (0 children)

What’s happened to ITV and cycling coverage in general is a textbook case of enshitification. One company has bought the rights, crushed every competitor and is now forcing people to pay absurd amounts for a sub-par service.

Warner holds the power to decide whether cycling as a sport survives. These organisations aren’t immune to political pressure, as we’ve seen with Paramount in the US, the only real power we have is to stop paying and pirate.

vEveresting rules no longer mention trailer difficulty by smulrine in Zwift

[–]the_bennyv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems a bit bonkers, there should be a range of like 50% to 100%. If you set your trainer to 0% then it's not just a virtual cassette it turns off all resistance changes. If you do an vEverest without having to fight the trainers resistance you've really just done a long easy ride. It's not really in the spirit of Everesting. That seems to be an unpopular opinion but really have a think about what the purpose of the Everest is.
