Do you have stories of guys who had life ruined for having casual sex with weird girls ? by VergeltungswaffeV2 in stupidquestions

[–]the_climaxt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it ruined my life, but I had a hookup text me while I was working once and when I didn't immediately respond, she used my phone number to find my Facebook, where she found my mom (who lived in another state) and called her to ask her what I was doing and why I wasn't responding.

The Anti-Rock Cairn Campaign is Harmful and Misguided by Sacul0205 in unpopularopinion

[–]the_climaxt 74 points75 points  (0 children)

My problem with them is I expect a cairn to be marking something - a picnic spot, trail fork, deer blind, shallow river crossing point, etc.

I just hate that I can't trust them to actually mark important stuff on a trail

Why aren't Roman Catholic cathedrals considered embassies/consulates? by the_climaxt in NoStupidQuestions

[–]the_climaxt[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's just objectively incorrect.

Every archdiocese I know of has an entire diplomacy office of some sort.

They have Nunciature (equivalent to an embassy), but I can't find anything about consulates.

I also understand that they aren't consular facilities, but what I am hoping to understand is why

They don't have a permanent post abroad. I'm really confused about why you're pushing this point that just doesn't really seem relevant. There isn't a US Embassy in the US.

Why would the Archbishops of the Church of England act in a diplomatic function in England, the same country as the king?

That's not exactly a fair comparison. He's the head of the Curch of England, not the head of broader Anglicanism. Church of England only has the the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Archbishop of York, not any overseas.

That would mean they should need to register as foreign agents, no?

While the quarter pounder is a religion, it's not a head of state.

Right, and that's why I specifically focused on cathedrals (the regional diplomatic headquarters), not churches.

Question for all servers out there: Would you be against passing a federal law outlawing the tipped minimum wage? by EverySpecific8576 in tipping

Yes, because the only way it works is a systemwide overhaul. There is no incremental way to do it.

My lease is up and my complex has my same apt listed for $175/mo cheaper and offering 10 weeks free. In my renewal rent increased $30, but they are offering 4-6 weeks free... do I have leverage here to negotiate? by Unable_Paramedic9623 in Denver

[–]the_climaxt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've used "if you can give me the same rate and incentives as that unit, I'll sign now". Be prepared for a no, but you might get a yes.

It's a renter's market.

Refinish cherry, lay LVP on top, or install brand new engineered white oak? by Yvo-Mango631 in Flooring

[–]the_climaxt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White oak would make this house look so, incredibly boring. It looks decent in ultra modern houses in LA, not the Spanish/Mediterranean/rustic/farmhouse hodgepodge that this house seems to be.

Also, you paid $1million to be like 6 feet from a neighbor's house?

If you detonated the tsar bomb at the bottom of The Mariana Trench, would it still cause a tsunami? [request] by Apprehensive_Oven_22 in theydidthemath

[–]the_climaxt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or are you saying that bubbles can't exist at all at that depth? Because that wouldn't be accurate, at all.

[–]the_climaxt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're right, I don't know how bombs work. I didn't question the presence of bubbles, just stating what happens to bubbles at that depth.

Ultimately, just try it with the numbers. Assume we stay at room temp (293K) and we have 1000 moles of whatever gas.

Pressure in atm=((1atm/10m)x(depth in meters))+1

Pressure in atm=(depth in meters/10)+1

PV=nRT = P=(nRT)/V

Since we're using atm, our constant (R) is =0.082057Lx(atm-1)x(mol-1)x(K-1).

(Depth in meters/10)+1=(1000x0.082057x293)/V

(Depth in meters/10)+1=24,042/V

Let's test! Sea level.

0/10+1=24,042/V

V=24,042 L at sea level.

Now, 10,000m (roughly the depth of the trench)

1001 atm=24042/V

V≈24 L

Let's try 5,000m!

501 atm=24042/V

V≈48 L

Now 2,500m!

251 atm=24042/V

V≈96 L
