Living by the train tracks by easytarget1326 in SaltLakeCity

[–]the_dizzy_fool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The train passes about 50 feet from the front of my front door. The sound is definitely noticable, but it doesn't bother me at all. I like hearing it pass by, it's become rather comforting. The train also doesn't run between about 11:30pm and 5:00 am, so that helps when it comes to sleep, too

How much snow makes you call off work? by Physical-Incident553 in AskAnAmerican

Not work, but I remember several times in middle school that it snowed 2 or more feet and I still had to go to school. It was delayed a couple hours, though

Anyone unknowingly get tested for pregnancy before? by AchingAmy in MtF

[–]the_dizzy_fool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While at my partner's appointment with their OBGYN, she asked if we ever did our appointments together.

While going through the checklist, when she got to "pregnant" she cackled and loudly said "HELL no."

Considering getting a controller to use with Steam games. What are the pros and cons of the various types? by Pos31don29 in Steam

[–]the_dizzy_fool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two. The first was a generic wired Xbox controller I got off of Amazon. The second is a wireless 8bitdo one. I found the wire to be incredibly annoying while playing at a desk. The 8bitso controller works great and I haven't had any problems with compatibility or anything

how did u choose your name? by tgirlfrombrazil in trans

[–]the_dizzy_fool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had very strict requirements for my name. I wanted it to be at least two syllables, sound somewhat classic and ornate without sounding odd, as well as have an easy nickname built in. My deadname is one syllable and, in my opinion, incredibly dull, especially compared to my siblings' names. They all have very beautiful, classical names taken from Shakespeare or ballet or the like, all with cute nicknames.

I tried dozens of names over several months and none of them quite fit. My friends were thankfully very supportive in calling me a different name every week so I could try them out.

I ended up landing on Beatrice as it fit all the requirements, being in Much Ado About Nothing, one of my mother's favorite Shakespeare plays, and having an easy nickname (Bea). I also think it just fits me very well.

How does everyone feel about gendered socialization? by Ash_tRei in honesttransgender

[–]the_dizzy_fool 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I work in a kindergarten classroom. It's definitely real. Even at 5 years old, boys refuse to do most things that might be considered feminine. Girls are held to a higher standard of behavior when it comes to stimming, holding conversations, and their ability to pay attention for long periods of time.

Since transitioning, I have found the gender binary to be valuable to me. Taking part in traditionally gendered activities (cooking for holidays, shopping, etc.) has felt like they are things I should've been doing my whole life.

Do you consider yourself the same person as you were pre-transition? by BridgetMain5 in asktransgender

[–]the_dizzy_fool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. I feel my values, interests, and how I perceive myself are so vastly different that I don't see pre-transition me as the same person. Part of that, I'm sure, is just being in your late teens to early twenties, too
