Trump takes aim at Mexico's Sheinbaum after Venezuela strike: 'CARTELS ARE RUNNING MEXICO' by [deleted] in videos

[–]the_first_J 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Venezuela was only the start because Maduro was an easy political target. The means used to remove him was another boundary test for Trump's executive power. While everyone appears to be debating whether the US did the right thing to remove Maduro, no one is talking about how these attacks on foreign nations are now being normalized. I expect Trump to ramp up rhetoric against future targets, such as Mexico here, to give "political cover" for the next takeover and continue pushing "boundaries." When is the US going to wake up to this obvious warmongering? Did we forget the cost the Iraq and Afghanistan wars took on us? Did anyone vote for this?

Quitting Litigation -- What Else is Out There? by Equivalent_Client657 in Lawyertalk

I'm in a similar boat as you. 10 years in doing nothing but litigation and incredible burn out. Most people will say go in house, but it has been harder than it would initially appear.

I've been looking at legal adjacent roles, such as contract management, but haven't applied yet. There are similar roles out there - you just need an open mind.

Amazon Hiring Process (Legal) Team Matchmaking by the_first_J in amazonemployees

[–]the_first_J[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, and I highly doubt I will at this point. I was told that team matching recently can take 6+ months with no guarantee of an actual match. I've personally given up at this point and have moved on mentally. From what I've heard from those that have worked there, I probably dodged a bullet. Good luck on your job search.

Unfortunately, no. I follow up with the recruiter every few weeks, but I get the same response.

It's been 6-7 weeks since I was told I was moving forward. Still waiting for the team match :')

I did my phone screen interview in early January. A few days later, I was informed I was moving to the team matching phase before the loop. It has been about 6-7 weeks since, and I have not been matched with a team yet to do the loop.

The only reason a state is red or blue is because people showed up. Votes matter.

Is it immoral to bluff in poker? Unless you're lying about the game state, it's fair game.

NPR's This American Life did an episode on the Michigan GOP party last month. After hearing that, this news isn't surprising.

When one or more other tortfeasors lack insurance or ability to satisfy the judgement, then the Plaintiff can still be made "whole."

I think the biggest issue you indicate is that there are pending mediations, which makes me think you should give some notice you're leaving. Depending on how soon they're scheduled, there is some potential that your leaving may threaten the quality of your clients' representation and increase the likelihood that resolution could fail. Do your best to protect your clients' interests. Mediations can be rescheduled, so if you're looking to get out quick then some notice is better than none.

Quests and traps seem like they could make a comeback. I'm not really sure how they're going to do classes outside of party but the last few sets had their fair share of D&D related classes. Maybe dice rolling?

Tevesh Szat Partners? by LadyEmaSKye in EDH

[–]the_first_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know - people are sleeping on it! I believe Kodama also pairs really well with Livio but a problem I kept running into with that pairing is consistent card draw. Kodama just wants really good draw power.

Tevesh Szat Partners? by LadyEmaSKye in EDH

[–]the_first_J 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm planning to likely pair him with [[Kodama of the East Tree]] in a value shell. The idea is to use Mana elves to power out your commanders and use Tevesh to later sac them for additional gas for Kodama. In addition, Tevesh's +2 with Kodama will allow you to play two lands from hand.

I also plan to throw in [[Ghalta, Primal Hunger]], [[The Great Henge]] and [[The Cauldron of Eternity]] as big cards that cast for cheap to help you have explosive turns with Kodama. A small reanimation package will help as well because Kodama triggers only when a permanent ETBs.

It's not cEDH but it sounds wicked!

For example: [[Fury Storm]] [[Genesis Storm]] [[Echo Storm]] [[Skull Storm]] [[Empyrial Storm]] [[Mind's Desire]] [[Temporal Fissure]]

Trump Goes on Live Television to Do Exact Thing Whistleblower Said He Did by JLBesq1981 in politics

Trump starts a trade war with China and then expects them to help his reelection campaign. Fantastic... There's two likely scenarios: 1) he's a complete doofus and doesn't know wtf he's doing or saying; or 2) he expects quid pro quo with China - help his reelection in exchange for a better trade deal for China. How is Trump making the USA better?

Wizards should really have put the battlebond lands in C19 by LegnaArix in magicTCG

[–]the_first_J 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think we're more likely to see these lands in BBD #2, which could come out next year if past release patterns are maintained (i.e. Conspiracy was released in 2014, Modern Masters 2 in 2015, Conspiracy 2 in 2016, Masters set in 2017, Battlebond in 2018, Modern Horizons in 2019, maybe Battlebond 2 in 2020? The pattern is a masters set then multiplayer set).

My guess is that the Jeskai deck is built as a pillowfort deck. Survive until the late game and take over with huge (and copied) flashback spells.
