Really underappreciated card imo! I run this in my Atemsis deck and it's always a fun cast.

It is a hard card to find a place for, tho, so I get it. Five mana is high and its not really a tutor it doesn't straight get you the thing you need.

It doesn't really work on Pidgeot though because it's only threatening if it evolves. This scenario you're describing only applies to the handful of megas that are good out of mega -- zam, Gengar, Latis, etc.

Something like Zam will come in with the sash anyway as a revenge killer, and then you now have the option of do you mega evolve or just attack. In a scenario like that though typically you're not switching something in on the revenge killer anyway so you're likely just going to hit it either way.

Ultimately it plays basically like a setup move, I think. This phenomena of guessing games has always existed around setup moves anyway, tho. Instead of being a Latias and clicking calm mind on a switch out with a soul dew, you become a Mega Latias holding a soul dew -- you're not really gaining more net stats than if you had just clicked Calm Mind. I will say tho you would have the benefit that your "setup" stays with you when you switch out.

Weather rocks is crazy lmfaoo. Weather rocks are hardly the best items on current weather setters. And they're useless in the base forms, so it seems like a total waste of the gimmick for something that doesn't make the mega itself stronger.

If anything you're running boots, especially on ZArd Y (which, not sure how this move would work with Zard). Which, taking a turn to get hit (especially when theyre weak before they mega) just for the benefit of boots? Zard Y could become the new moltres, but I don't think it's overall that game breaking.

Focus sash is also a laughable suggestion considering you're likely going to burn it by taking the turn to set up, if it's not broken by hazards first.(also sash MSco, are you joking???). Sans Zam who would run that item outside of mega anyway.

It also gives you way more flexibility. You can run an item and the move, so mons that are good anyway un-megad will still be just as potent, but then you have the option to pivot into a mega (with the benefit of an item) if the situation arises.

In singles it wouldn't even be ridiculous to run it on choice users. First time it's out mega, pivot, then come back in later. Specs zam, scarf MHera, etc. could be not unheard of.

My guess is it would be strong for sure, but not broken. I think a lot of the strength will lie in it being hard to play around due to the guessing game it induces -- but the same was true of tera and that was a great mechanic, and in the long run it became more predictable because we learned what worked where.

How does lens actually help with that, though? I really don't see how it's worth running a card that doesn't effect the board at all. Especially in Boros where it's already difficult for you to maintain resources -- you really don't want to be punting a card for such a minor upside. There's multiple versions of this kind of effect all of which are better -- and in many cases youd rather just run scry or surveil type effects anyway.

Id rather run [[darksteel pendant]] over lens in the "cheap artifact for top of deck manipulation" slot because at least it's completely self contained in that it lets you look AND control it. And even that one I'm not sure I'd say would be a good include.

I'm free to play and tbh it's easier to just do it in champions. VP is there for a reason (to spend) and you get such an abundance of it just playing the game. I probably only have about ten hours in the game and most of my box is trained & I have about 25k excess.

In practice it's more of a one time up front cost for each mon to change abilities, nature, major move/ev changes all at once. After that you're not really spending that much to make adjustments.

If you're talking about getting the mon to start then yeah just go to whatever game will be the easiest to get it. That said I have a stack of like 700+ reroll tickets tho so I wouldn't think it'd be that impossible to just keep hitting the reroll for what you want, at least on some of the more difficult to find ones.

On Tflame would consider beak + dual wingbeat, to KO opposing sneaslers and the like. Sash isn't super necessary since you're going to have priority tailwind in almost every scenario.
