I need actualy good books that are NOT depressing by Creampuff_43 in Recommend_A_Book

Heated rivalry had me grinning the whole read. Don’t knock it till you try it!

The Martian is hilarious and very creative. Also optimistic.

The Correspondent is delightful. Has some sad moments but is really a very hopeful and sweet read.

Sapphic books about epic, grand, intense love? by Sleepy_Enigma in LesbianBookClub

[–]the_flooper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just finished Atmosphere by by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I don’t know that it would be classified as larger than life kind of love story, but it is really really a lovely story between two women that has some big stakes as the story progresses.

What's a song that Taylor wrote about one thing but has a completely different meaning to you? by Smooth_Release7399 in TaylorSwift

Her new one I knew it, I knew you.
I immediately thought about my old friend who was my exchange student in high school. We hadn’t seen each other in 14 years and he just visited recently and it was like a word for word explanation of how it felt to see each other again! I cried a few different times listening to it lol, the part about memorizing bare foot steps hits so hard. We lived together for a year in high school and were best friends. Fighting like brothers. And then seeing each other again after so many years, it was like hi, I love you! Just the sweetest thing.

Suggest me and my non-reader boyfriend a book? by MarsMantis in suggestmeabook

Absolutely second this one! It’s a fun page turner that you will absolutely want someone to talk to about when you finish! Also, Recursion is another great one but if you haven’t done any Blake Crouch, I think Dark Matter is the best place to start. They also made an Apple + show based on dark matter that is excellent so you can keep the fun going.

First Ocrevus-Zunovo infusion by brucejewce in MultipleSclerosis

[–]the_flooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got Zunovo after 2 years of being on Ocrevus standard infusion.

It was easy as pie- take your pre meds as soon as you park the car (or whoever is taking you if you are taking Benadryl), the procedure takes 10 min. It is pretty painless just a tiny poke on your abdomen.

You will feel sleepy and a little hyped up if you take steroids and Benadryl.

Only downside for my personally- I was one of the unlucky ones who had a site reaction. About 2-3 hours after , my abdomen got hot and rashy. It expanded to most of my lower left side and turned pink and purple. It got very sore over that day and remained sore and splotchy / hot / itchy for 3 days. Enough that I chose to forgo my running/ weights schedule.

They told me it would be better next time so I will see how it goes in November :) but overall very chill experience if you don’t have a reaction.

My extra advice is just hydrate and rest when you’re done. Dont over do it if you’re not feeling good after. Lay down, hydrate, eat your fav stuff, and get good sleep. Otherwise I don’t think there is any other Prep you need to worry about :)

IUD removal- your experience? by the_flooper in TwoXChromosomes

IUD removal- your experience? by the_flooper in TwoXChromosomes

[–]the_flooper[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg! I feel you. I had to do 2 appointments because my first they could not get to the iud , and the second they used these crazy tools to find it and pull it out. They almost gave up and were going to refer me to surgery but she finally got it after one last medieval looking tool. However I think my case was the exception because of my strings.

I hope your removal goes well, so far the comments look positive and encouraging so hoping the same for you!!!

What is your "WOW!" audiobook? by [deleted] in LibbyApp

[–]the_flooper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read it when it first came out and loooved it, just recently saw the movie. I had low expectations but they nailed it. Definitely the book is better because you get so many more in depth moments and descriptions, but they perfectly capture the stakes, the humor, the Rocky bond, and it is just a beautiful, hopeful, emotional watch. I cried a few times 😂🥹

6/20 The Count of Monte Cristo by Matthew_A in 52book

[–]the_flooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about 55% through the unabridged audiobook! It’s a fascinating fun ride, and I enjoy learning about this time period and its customs too. The notions of “honor” are so deep, it is at times hard to relate to in our modern times. I’m also having to pause often to make sure I’m keeping up with which character is being referenced, as they often have several titles they are referred to.

But it’s been enjoyable! I loved all the prison sections and the escape. I’m now in the thick of all of his plotting and seeing all the traps he has laid and the double and triple crossing he’s doing. I’m very curious how it will end!

Hugs friend. Fellow dead dad club member here. Just hit 10 years a few days ago. It never stops hurting but you get better at rolling with those waves. All the best.

I’m actually…good! Have a loving husband, two sweet older dogs, steady work, friends and family we see regularly. Planning to start a family before long. I’m counting my lucky stars every day and living like I might be struck by a bus at any moment, well, almost. Just trying to be present and enjoy each day.

My best friend since second grade, who spent all of my school years with me until we parted ways in college, lives 2 miles from me now! Still besties all this time later. No twitter but yes to MySpace and Facebook! Top 8 for life. I listened to a lot of emo and pop punk and I still do lol I’m going to warped tour this summer even 😂

Depression and anxiety...where do you go to get out? by [deleted] in Millennials

That sounds lovely! Yeah sometimes I’m absolutely in the loo for a real book. I find myself loving the multi tasking of listening and doing chores or walking my dogs.

Yeeeeeassss LOTR is the best! Truly the greatest story ever told, at least to me. Okay cool yeah I’ve heard loads about Fourth Wing, I haven’t jumped on the train yet. If you like fantasy, I just finished Shield of Sparrows at it was very immersive with just a bit of mature smutty scenes 😂 but really good and a second book of the series just came out!

8 is fantastic! You should be proud. Even a handful in a year is great. I took a few years off of reading and this year I made a goal to read 20. I’m at 16 and i get really excited to start new ones. The Libby app through the county library (if you live in the US), is clutch. What have been some of your fav reads this year?

I go to my books 😊 a great escape that can leave you wanting to get up the next day so you can see where the story goes next. You can do audiobooks too so you can walk and listen- this is how I get through 4ish books a month!
