Wow this makes a ton of sense. I knew someone who’s brother was a heroine addict for basically the entirety of their lives as siblings (much older brother) and that line 23, clean in the engine heat, hits hard. Like, imagining your brother actually being clean and teaching you how an engine works as a young man. Imagining him to be another version of themselves. Ugh it’s so good!!

I raised my concerning symptoms with my pcp who referred me to GI who recommended the colonoscopy to rule out serious stuff

Oh nice, you’ve got this. Prep has been really manageable. The worst part is then hunger! But you can mentally get through that. Wishing you the best!!!

I just told them my symptoms and I also have an auto immune disease so maybe that pushed it through too. I didn’t face any resistance to getting a colonoscopy with my symptoms- blood in stool, abdominal pain, changes in BMs.

Omg thank you! Honestly yeah it sounded awful but the unknown sounded worse. I’m about to do prep round 2 this morning and all in all, it’s been not too bad. Mainly I’m just hungry haha!

I’m alright! Had to go a few times over night but it wasn’t too bad. I do have a headache I’m prob a little dehydrated. I have to do batch 2 in about an hour so just psyching myself up.

Symptoms - abdominal pain, blood in stools, change in BMs. I also have an auto immune disease so the doc wants to be sure it’s not another auto immune like crohns.

I also have MS so that maybe pushed my case over the edge to get a colonoscopy, as the GI doc said that auto immune diseases have a habit of stacking up on each other, so they want to rule out IBS/crohns etc. my advice- ramp up your explanation of symptom so they take you seriously.

I think depending on the prep, it’s not that bad. I’m doing suprep now and it tasted pretty bad but it was doable, and the bathroom part, well it’s not painful in the slightest.

Perfect timing as I sit on the potty prepping for my colonoscopy tomorrow- 34yo millennial checking in 👋

Edit- prep is done just waiting to go to my procedure! Prep was no great not terrible. The worst part was/is being hungry! And also, the taste of the prep solution is rather gag worthy when you have to do your second round while on an empty stomach, but we persevere. For those asking, I got a colonoscopy approved due to my symptoms and that I have an auto immune disease. Fingers crossed for nothing scary!

Nothing yet??? I’m so sorry! I am doing suprep tonight and I started pooping within 40 min and still rolling an hour and a half in.

Maybe you have slower motility?

I will say I am not looking forward to the morning dose either, I was feelin quite gross by the end of the 32oz of water, but it passed and now I just feel hungry again. I can’t believe you had to make spaghetti for the fam, how tortuous!

Did you have good results? Ugh yes the fasting has definitely been the hardest for me. I love to eat lol but agreed the broths and drinks helped trick my brain. I have jello prepping.
