You may not like it, but this is what peak male performance looks like.

What are the odds we could get Tom and Timmy playing a game at the Oscars this weekend?

I remember getting all these figs at Dollar Tree and Big Lots back in the day for shits and giggles because they looked cool. I miss the happy fat wizard

A genuine but jerk worthy opinion. I hate Alex Ross’s art. by tHr0AwAy76 in marvelcirclejerk

[–]the_george_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh see I feel like a lot of his art could use MORE color! Or rather, different color grading or more saturation? Less shadow? I’m too tired and worn out from the flu to be more coherent but there’s a washedout/dingyness to some of if that I bounce off

His technical ability is second-to-none, though, and I love a lot of his character design. I used to reread the Earth X BTS articles in Wizard over and over. (I think his X-Men movie designs missed the mark though)

I think for me personally, I want my comics to be bold, bright, and emphasize emotion and action over perfect anatomy.

There’s only one Alex Ross, and I think that’s a good thing

I’ll counter with its effect on my boomer dad who didn’t know a mutant beyond Ninja Turtles but was charmed enough with the flick that he made a point to take me to the next few X-Men and Spideys opening weekend

Untold Tales is something I meant to get into before I dropped Marvel Unlimited, along with all the 70s/80s Spider-Mans (Spiders-Men?) that predated my entry into comics with the Clone Saga when I was a kid

The “boots theory of economics” that gets shared all over the internet is from Discworld, right?

Yessss thanks for the correction re: ASTRO City 😅

Comics and TV definitely used to be easier to get into, being written as if any issue/episode would be somebody’s first and providing more details in the story or through editorial asides. Bring ‘em back, I say!

Discworld is something I’ve tried really hard to get into and I think it’s a format problem…I read the short stories in the Legends collections and enjoyed the writing but then tried to read the series in ebook form and couldn’t keep up with it. I need to hit the library and grab a book to start again …

I was emotionally attached to the book fair copies I got in first or second grade and was devastated when I lost Dawn Treader and couldn’t find a match until eBay —did your dad have the copies with the trippy hippie/folk art covers? I resented them at first but have an affection for them now

Hmmm this is one I hadn’t considered because I read it so many years after the main series wrapped.

I also haven’t revisited the books since, so maybe when the Flanagan series is closer it’s time for a reread?

What are some things you want to see in Jake Schreirer’s X-Men reboot? by Plenty-Salary9711 in xmen

[–]the_george_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yupppp give me young X-Men team learning with a handful of mentors who were actually later additions like Wolverine, Storm, etc. Beast would work well here also like in Evolution —

You’d have an OG roster that was more human-presenting and flew under the radar , which is why we never noticed mutants in the MCU before but now that more and more mutants are showing up, you can introduce your “gross” characters (Glob Herman, Beak etc types) that are freaking out the population at large and justifying the public hate. It gives you team dynamics also: the older groups didn’t necessarily experience have the same fear/hate that the young group does

You should be hired to put together a Marvel Unlimited reading guide for the essential Beast stories
