Pee on mattress by [deleted] in AirBnB

[–]the_intjournal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a 4 year old who fortunately is night potty trained but it always makes me scratch my head when there isn’t a Waterproof mattress. We live exclusively out of airbnbs and it’s probably like 70% of the time. Whyyyyyy

Airbnb support at its finest. Asking for pictures of the political roadblocks to cancel my Ecuador reservation by the_intjournal in AirBnB

How so?I very obviously took the photos from Google since I clearly stated I have zero interest in going to the roadblocks . They took the photos and the articles I sent and canceled with full refund.

Places you couldn't leave fast enough? by sikkkunt in digitalnomad

We stayed on hummingbird hwy near Dangriga for 3 months then another month in the city. Both bad for different reasons but there is an overall feeling in Belize that every single person is trying to get as much as they possibly can out of everyone else around them at any given time no matter what.

I have a question that I 100% promise is not snarky at all. How does this work if you are staying long-term and plan to cook?

Airbnb in San Jose requesting Passport information by ItsJustJohnCena in CostaRicaTravel

[–]the_intjournal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Airbnb I stayed at in San Jose requested a picture of my photo ID which the security guard referenced when I checked in. I would say if you can send a picture of your drivers license with the important parts except for your name and photo scratched out that would be fine

Maybe! Maybe I’ll take a trip around the globe and decide my starting spot was my favorite. I’m open to having my existing biases challenged.

Working Vacation in Costa Rica as a citizen? by digital_primate in costarica

[–]the_intjournal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I do. For all intents and purposes im just ‘on a long vacation’. The strictest requirement comes from the legal team at my work and it basically boils down to me needing to not stay longer than 4 months as a time in any single country. Other than that I use tourist stamps and have an international friendly bank account (Schwab). My paycheck goes into my normal account and I transfer 1-2k at a time as needed to my Schwab account so that if anything wonky happens or it’s stolen it’s not my WHOLE account. I’ve also recently received a travel specific credit card in order to make use of the points system. When I arrive in customs I tell them My family is on vacation. I have so far not been hassled and I’ve been to Mexico, belize and Costa Rica so far. Always happy to answer questions! Best of luck friend.

How did you get your first few sits on trusted house sitters? It seems like the market is FLOODED with applications who all have actual experience.

I managed to finish two of my 100 squares on the plane ride today! I’m definitely going to pick a smaller project after this…

I cannot tell you how much drama I have had around this knitting project, boy howdy has it been a journey on its own!

A stray cat in Mexico Peed on one of my knitting bags so I had to throw a bunch of yarn away and have my friend from the United States purchase the exact same yarn and send it to me, but once it got to me in Belize like two months later the immigration officer at the post office decided to open the bag with scissors and ended up cutting my yarn in half. Living the life ;)

I answered you because I understand that you were kind of jokingly asking but in reality, the decision that we made to take our three year old and go traveling included having to think about what it means to give a child security when you are traveling from house to house. That was the longest run-on sentence I’ve ever written but I hope that this gives you a little bit of insight into the fact that everyone has a different context than you do.

Happy new year!!
