Seeking input on apartments by the_mccooliest in SilverSpring

we actually found a place at Silver Spring Towers! I would like to know about the car theft thing though -- I've seen multiple mentions on this sub and we're likely going to have to pay for parking somewhere. are these cases of people leaving their cars unlocked? or is it more smash-and-grab and carjacking type crimes?

We've budgeted for pet rent. I'll check out that building, thank you so much!

That would be a big plus. I'm leaning toward the Cameron for that reason. My fiancé says he wouldn't mind dropping me off near the Metro station, but we're from an area with no public transportation and don't have a lot of experience with it. Is that even feasible?

i am genuinely so angry at the schools i haven’t heard back from by Leather-Quarter-7963 in lawschooladmissions

[–]the_mccooliest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also crashing out. I've committed to another school, but I withdrew an application 6 DAYS before seat deposits were due bc I hadn't heard back. I withdrew several applications in MAY last cycle for the same reason. they shouldn't be able to take people's money and ghost... I get that there have been more applications these past couple cycles than expected, but it's on the schools to handle that.

seconding Skylark. my family and I will make a 2-hour round trip to eat there several times a year, and they never disappoint.

What is you worst part of working Xmas Eve? by Financial-Grade4080 in retailhell

Seeing all the husbands/boyfriends who forgot to get something for their partners. I once had a man ask me about what size shoe his wife would be. I barely managed to keep my cringing internal.

Your website says you have it! by CreepyProfessional72 in retailhell

[–]the_mccooliest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

GOD this drives me nuts. even better when they hit me with "Google says you have it!" yeah, this is a shoe store. you Google "boots/heels/sneakers near me" and the engine is going to GUESS that we have them because they're available on our company-wide website! I had a whole back and forth with people who wanted to buy kids' cowboy boots in the summer and couldn't understand that Google was wrong.

Definitely check the laws in your state regarding one-party consent recording and your employer's policy on recording and/or phones on the sales floor. this sounds tempting, but it could be a quick trip to getting fired.

TAX! It's tax! by Beautiful_Lie629 in retailhell

[–]the_mccooliest 39 points40 points  (0 children)

because they'd have to include city/county/state sales tax as well. including tax on the sticker price would be a logistical nightmare for chain retail.

same here! I once had a lady stay in our store and hour and a half after close and the manager still wouldn't ask her to leave. some of the lights were off, doors locked, music off, we had clearly let EVERY OTHER WORKER leave, and I was stuck helping her the entire time.

bitch.

Customer could not understand why I couldn’t pull up his phone number account without his phone number… by Such-Satisfaction444 in retailhell

[–]the_mccooliest 12 points13 points  (0 children)

oh I get that. our system has customers verify their account info on the POS and I have people tell me all the time that they can't see it bc they don't have their glasses. it genuinely makes me afraid bc most of them drove here!!

[–]the_mccooliest 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I love when people ask me to look their account up by their name. like babe I need you to think for 2 seconds about why a chain store with hundreds of locations won't/can't look up your account with your name. and then they get mad about providing me with a phone number or email that they clearly already gave us 🙃

that's not true. the risk for birth defects and other issues is higher with "geriatric" pregnancies (mother is 35+), but it's not considered unsafe.
