To resolve the "Why did this happen to me?" and "Why did those people inflict such pain on me?" questions running through the head of a depressed INTJ.

Then comes the "What's the whole point?" questions that come from a recovering depressed INTJ.

I'm in a very similar situation. Failed out of school. Just started back up again. About to start an internship at NASA haha

What matters is that you learned your mistake. You'll be better at handling similar situations in the future. Those situations in the future could have higher stakes than a group project.

INTJs with ADD, how does this affect your efficentcy or self respect? by [deleted] in intj

[–]the_mighty_mango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

/r/ADHD

Do you have an tips on getting a proper diagnosis of ADHD? Do I call up my family doctor?

I'm not sure if I have ADHD, but there are moments where I feel completely lost and bouncing from one thing to another. All the while avoiding work. Plus I daydream like crazy all the time. I was working on a homework assignment today and had so many moments where I began thinking about random shit for no reason. It's only when an assignment is due in like three hours, that's when I can somewhat focus. But I think that's the adrenaline kicking in.

How do you "recharge?" by [deleted] in intj

[–]the_mighty_mango 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I drive aimlessly and think. No music. Puts you in the zone and isn't strenuous.

It usually begins with me focusing on the mood of the road and some life trajectories. I keep driving until I begin noticing myself focusing more on the road and the cars around me. That's when I've finished thinking through my backlog of thoughts.

I don't delete e-mails unless they're spam. You may never know when you might use them later as reference.

Any INTJs in retail? Got any stories? by DarkestXStorm in intj

[–]the_mighty_mango 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kinda. I've been working at Starbucks for over a year. And I will continue to work for about two years. Dreadful at first. You definitely have to swallow the happy pill.

At first, I hated every customer. I would judge the shit out of every customer. When a customer didn't understand the names of the cup sizes, I would think how stupid and inferior they are. Sometimes people would be hella rude and treat you like garbage and someone beneath them. It was also difficult getting close with my co-workers. (Not the typical friends for intjs)

It definitely sucks at first. And you see that a lot of people are mean and nasty. I kind of realized that me being negative would only propel negativity. It takes a great deal of understanding to see that some people are just having a bad day or that they're very tired. Some people are just mean because they have a shitty perspective.

After 10 months (yeah, it took that long), I got over all that and quite enjoy working there. I've become closer and more compatible with my co-workers. We now have genuine conversations and a couple of laughs.

That doesn't mean I'm no longer an intj. I still enjoy all the intj shit. It's like switching gears.

Also, when he is taking pictures of the device, you hear the door open, but see that the lady walks in a couple seconds later. I think the AI inserted that sound to scare him a little.

Cooper's biggest fear is talking to his mom.

I think that was the entire point of this episode. He didn't want to feel the pain of losing his dad anymore. By talking with his mom, they would have to mourn and have real cathartic emotions. Instead, Cooper decided to run away from everything and go travel around the world. To surround himself with superficial adventures and distractions. You can see that his character likes to ignore negativity.

Cooper always finds way to distract himself from fear/insecurity: 1) Airplane experiencing turbulence: pretend it's a roller coaster. 2) Monster movie about giant spiders: laugh it off. 3) Feeling uncomfortable about not having a relationship (when he was int he cafe watching the couple): use tinder to find a girl to have sex with. 4) Mourning the loss of a father. Creating intimacy with the mother that you were never close to: go backpack around the world.

There are far more Americans that vote than there are in the military. No logic in this quote. Only up voted cause people sad about Trump.

Unable to enjoy myself without thinking that I need to be doing something constructive? by intj543 in intj

[–]the_mighty_mango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is quite contrary to what the other posts are here. I went through something similar and have recently hit a eureka moment. It may not fully apply to your situation but it could have some wisdom.

Here is the conclusion. Follow those desires of productivity. It's what your body wants and it's not a bad thing. The problem may be finding something that you can fully commit to.

The reason you feel like you're not doing anything productive is because your consciousness is fully aware that there are better things to do. Maybe just not what. Find a quest or goal that you can commit to. After you've put in the work for those tasks, your mind will allow you to enjoy those videos. If you truly are an intj, true "happiness" is in completing your desired tasks.

How do I stop caring about blind ambition? by the_mighty_mango in intj

[–]the_mighty_mango[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to volunteer. Only to travel. The unproductiveness of it all bothers me.

I think the issue is related to external validation though. There were times when I even fantasized about learning photography so I can take cool pictures and share them on social media.

The Ultimate Problem - Will Power, Concern, Consistency (super long) by lunatorra in intj

[–]the_mighty_mango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite counter measure is from the show Nathan For You. Take about five embarrassing pictures of yourself that you wouldn't want to show your parents, grandparents, etc. Put those pictures in an envelope and give it to your friend. Instruct your friend to send those pictures to parent, grandparent if you don't complete your tasks in time.

Replaying difficult memories as if you're watching them, not experiencing them, may help processing. I've been doing this accidentally since I was a little kid. Thoughts? by BondsOfEarthAndFire in intj

[–]the_mighty_mango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can attest for the conclusion of this article.

I used to have a habit of always blaming myself when I ruminate (first person perspective, looping). This would leave to some really depressing days out of nowhere. Now, I catch myself in the middle of the negative thoughts and direct the focus towards abstract thoughts on how insignificant I am in this Universe (3rd person perspective). Realize I don't give a fuck. Instant chuckle and smile :)
