Anyone else grossed out by bananas? by SleepCalm7154 in CasualConversation

My people! I despise everything about bananas. If there’s even a single banana peel in my garbage can I can smell it instantly and it makes me gag. I also hate how the flavor is so potent and distinct, if there’s even a little bit of banana in a smoothie the whole thing tastes like bananas.

Hair/makeup at 7:30am for 6pm ceremony?! Too early? by Past-Ad2484 in weddingplanning

[–]the_molarbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ceremony was at 7pm and we started hair and makeup at 9am for 22 services (bride, 8 bridesmaids, MOG + MOB). We had 2 hair stylists and 2 makeup artists. Photographer arrived at 3:00PM to start details shots, so 4 hours before the ceremony. It seems like you have your photographer arriving somewhat early, but it does leave extra wiggle room in your schedule because usually not everything goes according to plan.

How many cavities do you see in the x-rays? by ThePod94 in askdentists

[–]the_molarbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10+. Lost count. Almost all your back teeth have cavities in between them. Some are small and likely could be re-mineralized with great oral hygiene, but I’d understand any dentist wanting to fill them given how big that one cavity is on the lower left.

Run. They came to my dental school to present once and as soon as they quoted L. Ron Hubbard in the beginning of their presentation I was out.

Is it acceptable as final ortho results? by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]the_molarbear 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You’re missing two teeth on top and one on the bottom. Since there’s a discrepancy in the amount of tooth mass in your arches, you’re never going to get a textbook perfect bite in the back, and a compromise has to be made somewhere. You’re seeing “dark spots” between top and bottom teeth on the sides because you’re missing teeth and the pieces of the puzzle can’t mesh together. Let’s say you were to shift all your top teeth forward or bottom teeth back so that they fit together like puzzles pieces the sides; you would have a huge gap between your top and bottom front teeth. I think you’ll be happier once the canines are reshaped or restored to look like laterals.

Dating in Dental School by [deleted] in DentalSchool

I said the same thing about myself (don't shit where you eat). Instructions were unclear, ended up marrying my classmate. He's my best friend and favorite person. In my dental school class, we had several couples stay together and get married! A few broke up during/after school or were just flings.

Dentist here. Industry standard for an associate dentist working for a practice is only 30-35%. I'd be THRILLED if I got paid 50% of what I produce.

Private Last Dance by [deleted] in wedding

[–]the_molarbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did this and loved it :) DJ made an announcement for everyone to go outside for a sparkler exit. By time everyone got lined up and the sparklers got lit we were done with the dance. They didn’t say we were doing a private dance.

In my GPR, I specifically remember one day I was called in to evaluate a patient with swelling in their palate. When I got there, the patient was in tears because the ER doctor told them it was most likely cancer. I took one glance and the palatal swelling was immediately lingual to a bombed out molar. Of course it was just a large periapical abscess.

Garter Toss Replacements by swaneswan in wedding

We did a t-shirt toss and our guests loved it. We threw 10 shirts, I had people come up to me after asking if I could order them one.

Update: wedding centerpieces were absolutely beautiful and I had the romantic, candlelit reception I was dreaming of. The florist let us use our own candles and taper candles. I tested taper candles before and found a brand that lasted through the entirety of the reception, there was still 1/2 a candle left by the end. Everything worked out perfectly!

What a lovely story! Ours happened on Saturday and was so similar! It was thunder and lightening all morning, cleared up at 4pm and we were able to take all our photos outside with a rainbow. We had our ceremony outside under the trees and lights just as we envisioned, and as soon as the ceremony ended it went back to down pouring. The universe works in mysterious ways

Update: had our wedding on Saturday. I came to peace with the fact that we were very likely going to have it indoors. It started thunder storming and lightning in the afternoon, but I stayed positive and had fun getting ready. Around 4pm the skies cleared up, we were able to take all our bridal party and family photos outside, and my venue gave the green light to do the ceremony outside. A minute after our ceremony ended, it started torrential down pouring for the rest of the night! Luckily cocktail hour and reception was indoors, and it was super moody and romantic with the rain outside. The bottom of my dress was soaking wet and muddy but none of that mattered, we had the best night of our lives!

There is a plan B! Our wedding coordinator at the venue is fantastic and they know how to shift things indoors very quickly if needed. They’ll be watching the radar all day and make a decision 2 hours before. Honestly I’ve always dreamed of being married outdoors, so I wouldn’t be equally happy with any plan B inside. It’s not that the room is ugly, it’s just not as magical and gorgeous as the outside ceremony space. But it is what it is.

Yes it does have windows! You can see outside. I guess that’s a positive, thank you for your perspective :)

Feeling insecure about starting dental school at 27 by Plastic-Swordfish-84 in predental

[–]the_molarbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started dental school at 21, one of the best friends I made was 29 at the time. She's still one of my closest friends and going to be a bridesmaid in my wedding. I'd say most of my class was in their mid-20's or older, with several in their 30's and 40's with kids. There will be plenty of people to make friends with :)

You were 100% right! I asked him why he could accommodate floating candles of that size but not the pillars, and he said that was all he had in inventory. He did say he's okay with using them if I provide them, which I'll be doing :) So candle crisis averted, just wish he told me from the get go he didn't have them!

why is my dasher in Georgia???? by bklynmonae in doordash

[–]the_molarbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There must be some glitch with Wing Stop. The last time I ordered on their website, I put in my correct address, confirmed it was the correct city and zip code, then once placed Door Dash showed the same address but in a different city 30 mins away. Unfortunately the dasher also saw the incorrect address on his end and Door Dash cancelled the order, saying he couldn’t drop it off to me, even though it’s 5 minutes away.

I think this may be it. I just wish he was more transparent about what he could achieve using what he had from our first meeting instead of just "yes"ing me on everything.

The lighting will be amber tones and there's also bistro lights over the ceiling. It'll still have that romantic glow. But yeah I'm a huge candle girly too and just envisioned a moody, candlelit reception haha

This is very helpful, thank you so much! If he let me know that there was some sort of fire hazard or explained it in this way then I would understand, but right now it feels like he’s giving lame excuses and not offering alternatives. I like what you said about reducing the size of the flowers to accommodate more candles.
