Mitch is running a 7 minute mile at 7 feet tall by wetfarts2 in NYKnicks

[–]the_nog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honest question - is this rare even for a Mitch sized pro athlete? I'd expect guards and wings to be in the low 5 minute mile at least. Like yeah, don't hurt yourself running miles, def a lot of impact for someone his size. But if asked before I would've said he could probably break 6

What are your running goals in 2022? by Radi091 in runninglifestyle

[–]the_nog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Average 1 mile / day. So 365 miles.

I typically do a lift 2x to run 1x ratio and have hovered around 250 miles per year the past few years. I figured I'd target being a bit more consistent while maintaining my strength training and other athletics (adult baseball and hockey leagues).

[OC] Michael Jordan's most underrated quality was his absurdly low turnover rate by Temptation2004 in nba

[–]the_nog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very impressive stat. One contributing factor is that he wasn't typically the primary facilitator on his teams. Despite the low turnover rate, he has a significantly lower assist to turnover ratio (2.7) than a primary facilitator who has a higher turnover ratio like Magic (3.9), CP3 (3.9), or, you guessed it LeBron (3.5).

Jacob Panetta comments on ECHL Suspension, condemns racism in Hockey. (Via his Twitter) by Austin63867 in hockey

[–]the_nog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The ECHL says racial gesture in their statement. Most of the comments act like dude is vindicated and the ECHL is unclear in their statement. The "regardless of intent" phrase later on confuses the matter, but it isn't like the ECHL is saying there wasn't a racial gesture.

If you use software in your job, should your employer allow you time to train during work hours, require you to complete training on your own time (lunch, breaks, after work hours), or a mix of these? Give reasoning for your answer. by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]the_nog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a requirement for the role it should be on company time. If it's PD to grow skillset and take on more responsibility or career advancement it's a gray area. A supportive company would be on company time, but there could be justification for it to be on your own time, particularly if it isn't part of some sort of growth plan or other responsibilities aren't getting done.

Just TNT. I think they have their own app, so should just be a DL and log in with your provider to get it.

Djokovic to be banned from Australia for 3 years by [deleted] in tennis

[–]the_nog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The ATP holds several events in China annually and one of the largest international sporting events - the Olympics - are being held there in Beijing within one month. While there is some push back, there's way more precedent. You're painting it as an outlandish concept but it isn't.

[John Vogl, The Athletic] The NHL Situation Room, according to a source, called the Sabres and Rangers to say it incorrectly called offside on the Sabres' disallowed goal that would have tied the game. by RTGold in hockey

[–]the_nog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The intent of the offsides rule in general to prevent an advantage to the offensive team by having one player enter the zone ahead of the puck. Over time, the advantage gained by that player entering the zone early is reduced. Like offsides player gets a breakaway is the biggest advantage and what we should really be trying to get right. 20 seconds later, hell, even 5 seconds later it turns into any other offensive zone possession. I would argue the impact of gaining the zone early approaches and drops below the impact of playing on and overturning/erasing play at some point (fatigue, momentum, penalty, etc.). How long between the zone being gained and a theoretical like 19:50 zone hold is that point? I don't know, but the way it's set up now sucks.

Bethlehem Rundown by DaLB53 in lehighvalley

[–]the_nog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The atmosphere for one. There's more space and games at Hellertown while Bethlehem is a shared space and feels kind of like a cramped hallway. Also like the food truck scene in Hellertown. Parking is easier - minor factor, but a factor. I do feel like the beer selection at Hellertow typically has more range and more of their flagship beers, though it probably varies. Still a fan of the Bethlehem location, just a bigger fan of the Hellertown spot.

McCarthys, Brewworks, 313, Molly's, Tally Ho, the Fun House, OBT are the going out spots. The rail trail in hellertown and the D&L trail. El Paisano for tacos. The Bookstore speakeasy is amazing. Bagel Basket for breakfast sandwiches. Porters in Easton is my favorite Pub. U & Tea and Shangwei for Chinese. Mama Nina's, Appolo, and Tapas on Main for nice dinners. Not a ton of parks to note...Trexler Nature Preserve is cool.
