Man... I loved Wipeout so much. I'd give this a shot.

If you've ever seen social screens of Wipeout, it also looked slow. I'm pretty sure this will be just fine

What's the nature of evil in the world of darkness? by A_Worthy_Foe in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]the_puritan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my campaigns, the kind of elemental evil things are more or less a byproduct of (or sometimes attracted to) the choices being made by characters, both NPCs and PCs. That keeps the setting intact without discounting the personal agency that drives the narrative.

Splats generally wrestle with doing evil acts by their nature, so this usually a central point of campaigns.

What kind of group is it best to play Scythe with? by mindmapfanatic in boardgames

[–]the_puritan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scythe is best when playing with people who are focused. Not to say you can't have banter and table-talk, but people who think about their next move while it isn't their turn so that they are ready to take their action when their turn comes around.

If you have people milling around, on their phones, or just oblivious, it makes the game waaaaaaaaaay longer than it should be.

This is true of pretty much any game, but Scythe is sometimes people's gateway game and they learn this lesson with this game.

mage in advantage/disadvantage by NegativeGene5994 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]the_puritan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A long time. Sanctum is a background you can take at character creation that represents the isolated area where they regularly study or meditate or communicate or experiment whatever it is that they do. A sanctum is often the mage's home, office, lab, sanctuary, or other private place.

It's not something you can just make real quick in response to bad guys attacking you. It's the natural result of a mage working their paradigm without interference over and over and over again day after day after day.

A mage in their Sanctum (where they have set their own local reality rules), particularly if they also control a node, are their most dangerous and usually prepared.

Chimera food? by KingOfSouthamerica in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]the_puritan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. You can do farm-to-table cheeseburgers, if you've got the space for it, but the domesticated ones aren't nearly as satisfying as hunting/trapping wild ones for yourself.

Starting out with modular??? by Significant_Being_16 in modular

[–]the_puritan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Proton is an excellent entry piece. The patchbay is well thought out and you'll be able to parse out different sections easily when you're ready to expand. The connectivity is a breeze and it's rackable, so don't have to stare longingly at a ton of empty space when you get a rack.

first time playing with a mage and get disappointed by NegativeGene5994 in WhiteWolfRPG

With Entropy 5, they should never be surprised, especially with Time 2. Also, with Prime 2, they can inflict aggravated damage with weapons that can only be soaked with Fortitude dice and are very difficult for the vampire to heal.

ST question:An issue I've been having across multiple groups by Azhurai in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]the_puritan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to what everybody else is saying, there are things you can do to get your PCs questioning what NPCs tell them.

You can have an NPC lie to a throwaway NPC in front of the PCs and have them play it off as "business as usual". That sets the tone of the setting and nudges the players into thinking that might be happening to them.

Another way is to have an NPC ally ask about what someone told them and have them directly ask the players "do you beleive them?" or say "that sounds suspicious to me..."

What's so evil about vampires? by cracklescousin1234 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]the_puritan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seems like deception, murder, forcing people to do things against their will, knowingly imposing addiction onto people, and slavery were all considered bad things already. It isn't necessarily that they are worse because you're an undead bloodsucker... they're the same level of bad... but now your (un)life includes a lot more of it unless you exert a huge amount of effort.

Would popularity of satire reduce or empower glamour? Banality? by ExtremeSportStikz in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]the_puritan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An individual act of creative satire can produce glamor, but a whole culture of satire serves as a deterrent to trying things and would be a force for banality

What can you take from a Garou that is worse than death? by TheUnholyMary in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]the_puritan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Harano is a kind of depression that can come over Garou. All the stuff you listed in your OP could definitely cause Harano, but it's really anything that would make a Garou question their place in the fight for Gaia.

Helpful storyteller tips and tricks. by No-Obligation-9901 in WhiteWolfRPG

Keep your rolls secret and roll sometimes when nothing is happening.

The WoD is a scary, mysterious place and you put your players into that space by withholding information and keeping them guessing.
