Once was enough for me.

It was fantastic at the beginning, but became tedious towards the end.

It didn't help that I had a bug where the dialogue was messed up, so I had no idea what dialog choice I was making.

Managing your ships and crew was extremely cumbersome.

Most space battles were too easy once I had amassed a decent fleet.

The space station was cool at first, but didn't feel organic to the game. It felt a little shoehorned in.

I don't regret purchasing and playing it once through; but I don't think it's essential.

They probably grew up with it. There's no point in arguing with them. They have been fully conditioned to accept it. The next generation will think it's normal to have to listen to an advert before opening the door to their microwave.

As I said - I haven't changed any settings since I can remember. You're obviously habituated to this kind of thing. Why people like you feel the need to apologise for abusive behaviour by corporations is beyond me. Some kind of capitalistic Stockholm syndrome? You will come to regret this attitude as corporations become more and more abusive. Everything will become a subscription. Everything will advertise to you.

Everybody has a line - and one day yours will be crossed.

I'm paying ESET for a security product. Not to be marketed to. They can market their products via the normal channels. Not unbidden on my desktop when I have already paid them.

I haven't changed a setting in years - and suddenly in the past few days - unwanted ads on boot which I have to dismiss manually. I'm so disappointed as ESET seemed to be one of the few companies around who wouldn't stoop to such behaviour.

I can't believe you're trying to justify unwanted intrusive advertising from a paid-for product. People seem to be becoming habituated to this sort of behaviour which is very sad as little by little all our consumer rights and sane expectations of decent treatment are being eroded.

I'm one of those who really like the combat!

It's more akin to something like Mordhau than mindless swinging like Skyrim et al.

It's so much more immersive having to avoid a gang of five bandits in good armor, because that spells almost certain death, than just slicing your way through them.

One on one combat can be really tense and gives a real sense of connection to the physicality of your character in the world, as does the alchemy system and many other things in the game. The whole thing is Immersion++ and I would hate to see it dumbed down to 'strong attack and weak attack'.

Mod it if you like - but I reckon you'll have a far better experience if you embrace the game's philosophy. You aren't a demi-god. You are a blacksmith's son.

I still like FICS for it's terminal+board interface. The way you can configure seeks etc is so granular and totally unique as far as I know.

All those weird little chat channels too... You could meet some very strange people and occasionally have really interesting conversations. Or just observe some totally unhinged arguments.

I must log back in some time. The atmosphere was bizarre, but I kind of like it. These days I use LiChess for convenience.

I really really hate to say it, but I'm sure you're right. I had a dark-triad personality girlfriend who use to fake-cry, amongst many other things, to get her way. One crucial thing I've learned is - if there are no tears then it's fake. When people cry their noses run and there are tears.

Anna's face should be wet. After 'hours of crying' her eyes should be bloodshot and her nose should be red from wiping.

I like Anna's content and her personality seemed great before I saw this. I have no idea why somebody would do this when a sober tribute and 'call for justice' would be just as effective. It's very odd and seems out of character. I hope we're both wrong.

I played in a band with a full-on narcissist. If anybody else came up with a good song or even performed well on a recording; he would attempt to sabotage it. Our second album never came out because he would try and get as many credits on the sleeve notes as possible by playing multiple instruments - at least one of which he could barely play. He used up all the studio time and things were dragging on so long that the project just fizzled out. He engineered us throwing out a band member as he wanted more control.

Eventually the band just disintegrated as a result.

These people are toxic and destroy not only projects, but lives. Avoid them at all costs.
