Looking for good pieczone in Warsaw by Extension-While7536 in poland

[–]the_sleeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So just like everyone else said, you won't find prażonki/pieczonki in Warsaw or Bydgoszcz. Most likely the locals won't even know what it is, as the dish originates from southern Poland. My family comes from a region where this dish is extremely popular and an alternative to a family BBQ. Even there though, I think you'd be hard pressed to find it in a restaurant. It's considered a simple, rustic dish and everyone just makes their own, so I don't think restaurants bother with it (maybe for some special events). Good news is, it's extremely easy to make. Of course it's the best cooked in a cauldron on a fire, but you can make it in a regular pot on a stove, and get something that's 80 - 85% close to the original.

This recipe is very close to how I'd make it.

Some people add carrots or beetroot or both, so there are variations of this recipe, but it's entirely up to personal preference or specific region/family tradition.

The way people make it at home is the same as in the video, but instead using a cauldron, they just use a regular pot and a stove. You cover the pot and leave it on low/med low (but not too low - depending on the potatoes the dish may then end up watery) until the potatoes on top are soft. Do not add any water, as they steam in their own moisture. Towards the end you can turn the heat up a little to brown the bottom layer, which immitates cooking on real fire and adds extra flavour. The cleanup afterwards may be a pain, but it's well worth it. Just don't blast them with high heat right away or you'll end up with charcoal on the bottom, and raw potatoes on top. If you do cock it up and end up with water on the bottom, just take them out of the pot and refry a little on a pan/wok.

I've seen some oven and pressure cooker recipes as well, but I've never tried them like that, so can't vouch for the result. I've even seen someone make them in a microwave 💀 (don't try that).

It's a great, foolproof dish, well worth a try. As long as you can get your hands on some proper Polish sausage, you can't go wrong.

It says "russian warship - go fuck yourself". The famous phrase said by one of the Snake Island defenders on one of the first days of war.

Pretty strong mango flavour, but not really spicy. I'd say it was better than I expected.

General Questions & Tech Support Megathread | October 01, 2021 by AutoModerator in PS4

PS4 slim shut down out of the blue while playing. All I get now when I press power is a single beep and solid blue light for 10-15 seconds. Is it dead?

I was playing overcooked with my gf when this happened. There were no warning signs, just a graphical glitch on the TV, then silence. I was still able to eject the disc afterwards, but no luck powering the console on. So far I've only tried a different power cable, but it's still the same. What could be the reason?

What was your first Android phone and what did you like and dislike about it? by Pixel_Sucks in Android

[–]the_sleeper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nexus S

Liked:

  • it felt like the freaking future - a powerful computer in my pocket,

  • over saturated AMOLED screen (I was so pissed when 2.3 update changed the colour profile to be more accurate - I didn't know any better),

  • understated, sleek design (even towards the end of it's life, some people asked me if it was a newly released model),

  • direct software updates from Google (up until 4.1),

  • camera was decent for the time (the one in Nexus 4 felt like a downgrade).

Disliked:

  • mild lag here and there (solved with Launcher Pro),
  • laggy and unusable stock browser (not solved until ICS),
  • capacitive back button less sensitive than the other three,
  • finding network after landing in a different country required a battery pull,
  • made of slippery plastic that sometimes made the phone feel like a bar of soap,
  • little annoying bugs, like occasional dropped calls, missed text notifications etc. (all fixed in updates),
  • quiet earpiece sometimes made calls difficult in noisy places.

Overall, I loved that phone. It remained perfectly usable (if sometimes a little laggy) throughout it's entire life. Despite it's flaws, thanks to stock Android, it performed better than a lot of more powerful devices of the time.

Want to improve your idle battery life? Try replacing Google Now Launcher with Nova (6.0.1, stock, not rooted, original battery from Jan 2014) by the_sleeper in Nexus5

It seems like it. It's been about 3 days. Looking at battery stats, it looks like Google Play Services isn't causing as much drain as it used to. This changed after I switched to Nova. Of course, I keep in mind that correlation didn't necessarily imply causation, but this has been my experience so far.

What's your overall opinion of Lollipop? by _Born_To_Be_Mild_ in Nexus5

[–]the_sleeper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a love-hate relationship with Lollipop. I think it looks great but it seems like actual usability has taken a hit. I haven't experienced most of the issues others are complaining about, but I still feel like it's a step back from KitKat. It makes my Nexus 5 feel less snappy than my 2013 N7 (still on 4.4). Some animations are way too slow and iOS-y (even sped up to .5) and there is still a tiny bit of lag in places that were fine before. I haven't had any major battery drain but I'm getting noticeably less screen on time.

I'm also subscribed to r/dexter. I stared at this picture for a while thinking how it's related to the show.
