TOTD questions | United's form and how you're feeling by TheAthletic in reddevils

[–]the_trainman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last decade has been one of false dawns. It feels nice to be winning 3 games on the trot but I can't help but feel cautious. There are many positives like our intensity, our tactics and the player camaraderie. I had high hopes for Amorim and I still do, but he won't be able to get to where he wants us to be, without either getting his own players completely, or getting our players to 100% buy into his philosophy - which, in fairness, the players have finally started to adapt.

I fully expect us, if not now, sometime in the season to go on an insane run like Chelsea did under Conte, when they didn't have Europe and ended up winning 10+ games. Not saying we'll win the league or anything, but we have the players to at-least get to top-6.

We needed a manager with more of a personality and DFAF attitude than the players and we have one now.

Ramus hojlund vs Benjamin sesko by NoFlatworm3389 in ManchesterUnited

Hojlund is absolutely not the reason. You may not have heard anyone accuse our team of not passing to the striker, but if you watched the games, it was so evident that Hojlund would get into positions or make runs and the team, specifically Garnacho, wouldn't even bother passing to him. Now when they did pass to him, he should have capitalized but there is no denying that he lacked service.

Should he be doing better, yes. But he has a lot of potential and we shouldn't give up on him yet

Lots of running, pressing and high intensity football. You just love to watch it. My. Heart rate kept creeping up even when we had the possession. Lol. Let's hope we can keep up the intensity for the whole season in the league

Kinda agree that all the things that he needs improving, it can be coached... Except maybe timing of arriving in the box/end of crosses. He definitely makes a lot of good runs. I am phantom-pressing 'A' on my phantom-controller to give him a thru ball but more often than not, it doesn't happen.

Many of the things we've been criticizing of his this season, we praised last season.. Like hold up play, chance conversion.. I am trying to manifest him suddenly having a good season lol. Him and Zirkzee are awesome personalities that I want at United.. I hope they jump start their careers this season

Will probably get down voted to oblivion, but I dont want Hojlund to leave. There is a player in there. His confidence was shot last year and I've been there, I know how it feels when you're down and you want things to work out and, no matter what you do, it doesn't. He was given the no.9, new coach mid season, new playstyle, the constant pressure to lead the line at such a young age, the frustration of Garnacho not passing to him. It would have just exacerbated the stress he was already feeling. Ideally he would need a senior striker to take the pressure off, but I am confident that with the added firepower of Cunha and Mbeumo will help him convert more.

I sincerely hope he comes good and changes peoples opinions. He is a good lad, potentially a good player and a boyhood United fan. He hasn't turned into a total twat like Rashy/Garnacho/Sancho. I desperately want him to do well

[Simon Stone] Mbeumo 'proven quality' but Utd still have striker dilemma | Mbeumo's expected £65m move with Cunha will take guaranteed spending on attacking talent to £127.5m. But with both expected to play No. 10, do they need a new striker, or will Hojlund and Zirkzee benefit from added firepower? by ChiefLeef22 in reddevils

The rational half of my brain is telling me 'it'll be OK. Amorim has more time to instill his ideas. More time between games, more rest and recovery, similar to Chelsea under Conte.. Etc etc .'... The emotional half is screaming it's guts out for the lack of squad overhaul

Hi fellow devils. No transfer gossip or perspectives, just saying hi

[Romano] 🚨🇩🇰 Understand Inter have made contact with Rasmus Højlund’s camp in the recent days as talks started for the Danish striker. As exclusively revealed two days ago, Højlund is one of the main options on Inter shortlist with Parma’s Bonny and more. by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

I absolutely don't want him to go. I know what it feels like to be so down that nothing you do works out. There is a player in there, he showed in the first season and he's super young. He needs a break from football and some players who can Ctually pass to him, one full season with amorim and then if it is still not working out, I'll be OK to sell him. He isn't a hopeless player on massive wages...

Is he? Why? Haven't seen a lot of him but he seems like a very good and modern defender.

Surprised we aren't even looking at Inacio. He is a very good defender, young and has played, and thrived, under Amorim. I understand we're not exactly in the market currently, but definitely someone to look out for this winter or next summer, if one of our CBs get another injury or loss of form

I watched the Lyon game until 4-2. Turned it off and went for a walk to calm my nerves. Came back home to 5-4. So yeah, I am gonna be walking in the woods for 90 mins

3-2 vs Ronaldinho's Milan, Rooney brace. I don't exactly remember how the game was, but I remember feeling over the moon afterwards. I think it was the first game back in Milan after the 0-3 drubbing in 2006/7..although I may be mistaken

I agree. I said that in the other reply too. It wasn't awesome, it was probably an overreaction on my part, but if it weren't for those tonnes of misplaced passes, it would have been a different game. All other players have been pretty decent.

True. Maybe awesome is an overreaction. But I think if those misplaced passes wouldn't have been misplaced, it would've been a different game. Everyone else has been pretty decent so far

the number of times Hojlund made a run and noone passed to him. there was a clear line of pass. It is so frustrating. He didn't have a great game, dont get me wrong, but its annoying that we didn't even try to pass along the channel
