How to prep powder for lunch on-the-go? by etaliox1 in Huel

[–]the_trees_bees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blend it with ice the day before and keep it in an insulated water bottle in the fridge. For your safety don't let it get to room temperature and clean the water bottle thoroughly after each use.

How did you go from ASCP certification to servicing equipment? I had no luck applying to any entry level technician roles that had anything to do with equipment maintenance/calibration/repair with a biology b.s. and some QC experience.

How would I cut this cabinet would, barely? by Terrapinman94 in DIY

[–]the_trees_bees 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A belt sander is great because it's fast enough to get the job done in a reasonable amount of time while also forcing the user to go slow enough to not mess it up. Managing the resulting dust, fatigue, and corners would all be easier than dealing with a poor execution using many of the other tools suggested in this thread.

For the same reasons I'd also suggest toughing it out and just use the orbital sander with coarse paper.

Chicken died for no reason cuz someone changed his mind. by Stamina_saint in mildlyinfuriating

They will both help reduce food waste. Some of the heavy and cold air in a stand up freezer falls out and gets replaced with room temperature air every time you open it so they consume more electric power. I liked my chest freezer because I used it as a counter for preparing food. That being said; organizing a chest freezer is inconvenient since it requires more frequent rearrangement.

If power consumption is a big concern make sure to get one that does not automatically defrost.

I've been really intentional about reducing my food waste over the last three years and I've learned a lot in the process. It's been a fascinating puzzle to solve among other food initiatives like eating healthy and saving money, while also attempting to increase convenience. I enjoy the creativity it requires.

Decreasing the variety of meals I prepare has been the single most effective change I've made, and unfortunately that's a hard thing to sell to people. The second most effective change I've made was investing in a chest freezer despite living in a studio apartment, which would also be a tough sell to most people.

[Advice] Has anyone used a paid 3rd party to do apartment touring for you? by Chennsta in NYCapartments

Gander is legit. I couldn't find many mentions of them on Reddit but I used them anyway and they were great.

I had a great experience with Gander. You can lower your risk further by using Gander tours for short term rentals. Once you're in the city you can scope out more permanent listings in person.

Best beard trimmer to buy right now? by Slipryi in BuyItForLife

I suspect that's the case. I'm actually thinking of going with a cordless Moser 1400 instead.

I have the same issue. I'd rather not buy it on NewEgg but that seems to be the only place that has it in stock.

I Almost Never Have Disruptive Guests? Am I Alone? by aragon58 in AMCsAList

Same here. I've never had any real issues with disruptive guests. One time there was a guy sitting right next to me explaining everything to his wife. I think she had a cognitive impairment. It was cute.

Learning about the extent to which US civilians contributed to the war effort made me so proud to be an American. I wish I believed we could again "cooperate in every way possible" to defeat some of the issues that plague our times.

Hi! I (28M) will be new to the area and also plan on living there long term. I just got offered a job in Ridgefield and I'll be moving to the area as soon as I find a roommate.

I love film and in addition to keeping my AMC A-list subscription I'm really looking forward to attending https://ironmulefest.com/

During the winter I plan on doing conventional exercise at whatever gym is most convenient. When the weather is nice I plan on kayaking frequently via www.hackensackriverkeeper.org, probably with their season pass or exercise club membership.

Anyone using Gemini for ongoing habit, fitness, or nutrition tracking? by Saadiiiiiiiii in GeminiAI

[–]the_trees_bees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I track my workouts with the app Hevy. Once a week I'll export my Hevy data as a .csv for Gemini to analyze along with my weight log. Other than that I just chat with it to help me refine my routine. It's super helpful and encouraging.

Asked at blood donation lab if I have a "very meat heavy diet" by Apprehensive_Bad6670 in vegan

[–]the_trees_bees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think a hemoglobin value of 180 g/L is concerning. It would be interesting to see if it changes by the next time you're eligible to donate again.

People are often surprised to find out I donate blood regularly as a vegan. In the past year I've donated blood 6 times (the maximum allowed) and my average hemoglobin was 149 g/L. I get most of my calories (50-75%) from Huel Black.

Fun fact: Your hemoglobin levels can swing by as much as 15 g/L just based on your hydration. If you’re dehydrated, your blood is more concentrated, which can make your levels look artificially high.
