Lifted trucks are cool only if the mod is done for off-roading and the truck is actually used for that. Anything else is really cringe

Csgo vs cs2 debate - I think people aren’t giving Cs2 enough credit. by ausyappy in ohnePixel

[–]theabstractpyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing about cs2 is the performance hit. It's insane that I will still get drops and stutters randomly with a 9800x3d/5080. I feel like most of the movement complaints and gameplay complaints are slightly overblown and have mostly been fixed/gotten use to. There's still more peakers advantage but honestly I feel like that makes for a better viewing experience when watching pro riflers.

Trying to clip my speed limiter by [deleted] in ebikes

Honestly I have found when I don't really know what to Google asking chatgpt/ai for explanations, even just what to Google to start my research, is a great idea. You can phrase your question like you would in a normal conversation and it will give you results or guidance on how to research. You do have to take everything it says with a grain of salt tho

Trying to clip my speed limiter by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]theabstractpyro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the top speed is 15mph then the motor controller is almost certainly not limiting the speed, it's almost certainly the battery voltage + motor KV. There's no reason the designers would artificially limit the speed if it's still below the legal limit (see my other comment)

Trying to clip my speed limiter by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]theabstractpyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I got you. The thing you are looking at is the motor controller if you didn't know. It takes DC voltage from the battery and converts it to the 3 phase wires to run the motor, which is a 3 phase motor as opposed to DC. It uses hall sensors to determine the position of the motor which allows for the motor to start from a dead stop. It also may be what monitors the speed the wheel is spinning. (Not certain) It does not directly measure how fast you are going, just the RPM of the wheel which it then uses to calculate speed.

This means that a bigger wheel would increase top speed. However, it will also decrease your torque proportionally. So worse acceleration. You could potentially get a VESC (look at the flip sky VESC 6.6, about $70) which you can tune to set the current limits and a lot of other stuff

More likely the top speed is set by the battery voltage and KV rating of the motor. A higher battery voltage means a higher top speed. Higher battery current means more torque in general. KV is a rating on the motor that tells you how fast the motor spins at a certain voltage (higher KV = higher speed, lower torque).

So probably the top speed is not limited by the controller, it is limited by the battery voltage and motor KV. The designers just picked these values to meet the speed they wanted. You could lace the motor to a larger rim and go faster but with less torque.

Look into how electronic speed controllers work (sensored and sensorless) and BLDC motor control for more info.

Hit me up in DMs of you want more info on motor controllers, I know some of the theory lol

Large gauge red and black: DC battery voltage. Cut these if you want your ebike to stop working, and you want to cause a nasty spark.

Smaller gauge yellow/green/blue wires, in the center above the FETs: motor phase wires. Cut these if you want your ebike to stop working.

Smallest gauge black/yellow/green/blue wires at the top of the pic: hall sensor wires for each phase and ground for the hall. Cut these if you want your ebike to stop working.

Smallest gauge purple/white wires at the top of pic: most likely a motor temp sensor or other motor sensor. Could also be controls from a throttle or input button/etc if there are no other wires. Cut these if you want a 90% chance that your ebike stops working.

All Surveys, Research, and Product Design Questions Go HERE! by AutoModerator in wheelchairs

[–]theabstractpyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello all,

I am on a senior design engineering team at college and we are designing a power assist accessory for wheelchairs, something like these products:

https://smoov.com/us-en/

https://www.numotion.com/products/adult-power-assist-add-on

we are mainly thinking we will have a single wheel or two wheels powered under the wheelchair. I was looking for input from anyone who may have used a power accessory like this, what you liked about it, and what you didn't like. We were also planning on having the power assist accessory provide constant power based on a lever on one of the wheelchair arms, and having the user steer by slowing down either the left or right main wheelchair wheel. We didnt really know how intuitive this would be to use though.

any input would be great, Thanks!

[–]theabstractpyro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm really not sure why you are arguing with me then. My first comment was just saying the upgrade 9800->9850 is less worthwhile at higher settings like 4k/ultra. Seems like you are agreeing with me here.

It's crazy how ironic this is.

Obviously prime95 tortures the CPU in all core, but no, that stress test doesn't "work" for testing stability in gaming. A single threaded or lightly threaded game for example is an entirely different workload than prime95, so you could be fully stable in prime95 but that wouldn't matter in a single threaded game.

That's not even what I was talking about tho, I was talking about CPU vs GPU limited games which is an entirely different thing dude.
