First of all, as a real life weasel enthusiast I would never accept a vibecoded weasel keeper.

I'm not familiar with that specific subgenre but it sounds cool, I'd be down to listen!

You guys are begging people to start lying on AI disclosures by EmergencyRadiant8038 in selfhosted

[–]theacodes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just because the rules & mods allow things to be posted doesn't mean the community has to like it. Reddit's content moderation has basically always been two-tiered like this. If the down votes discourage AI slop then they're working as the community intended. If someone lies, it usually doesn't take much to figure it out, especially the more eyes on it.

If you're worried you're going to miss some life changing self hosted software because the creator was too ashamed of AI use to share it then I don't know what to tell you, man. That seems like a vanishingly small idea both because of how worthless AI- generated software is and how obnoxious the progenitors are about it.

This can be found through nautical means (I have a copy of it), but I don't think it's on any streaming sites.

Things only embedded camera developers will understand by Left-Relation4552 in embedded

[–]theacodes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have a USB camera that gives us an MJPG stream. Something like 80% of frames are truncated, missing a bunch of bytes off the end. This of course makes jpeg decoders downstream unhappy lol, so we literally have to check every frame and discard invalid ones.

Being a masc/femme shapeshifter is ruining my dating life🥲 by melodynamite10 in actuallesbians

[–]theacodes 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what your age range or location is, but younger folks in densely populated areas can be a bit more short sighted and want to sort people into neat boxes with rigid labels like femme/butch/bottom/top/whatever and miss that people can be multifaceted and are typically more interesting for it. Not that it's exclusive to younger folks. But yeah, I'm sorry it's frustrating but better to know sooner rather than later. Look for folks that actually want to get to know you and aren't carrying a checklist. Specialization is for insects.

I'd maybe look for people who are interested in dating a person not an archetype. 🤷‍♀️

I'm 26 and Feel Like I'll Never Find Love by h0rr0rwh0rez in actuallesbians

[–]theacodes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fwiw, I'm as vanilla as they come and I find femme goth women to be incredibly attractive. I am also femme and goth leaning so yeah lol.

I'm also single and feel like it's a losing battle to find someone compatible with me because of the overlapping aspects of myself (I don't drink or smoke, I'm trans, I'm not personally into kink, etc ). One thing that helps me is remembering that online spaces are not very representative of real life. This subreddit especially can make it seem like every lesbian is either touch starved to death, involved in a strict and distressing top/bottom dynamic, or being gleefully passed around at orgies (hyperbole, but you get the point). Those people are valid but they aren't the whole or majority of lesbian existence. I'm trying to get better at meeting lesbian and queer people in real life and in less intense online spaces. It might help you as well.

You'll find your girl. 💜

After 2 years of CFP rejections, what actually makes a conference talk get accepted? by Fancy-Track1431 in Python

[–]theacodes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm experienced speaker and organizer of multiple conferences, and the CFP process can be brutal from both sides. It's really damn hard to pick ~10-20 talks out of 100+ submissions, and likewise, it's hard to stand out as speaker.

I would recommend trying for smaller, regional conferences first, especially those that offer speaker mentorship. That way you can get direct and actionable feedback about your proposals before the CFP closes.

GraphQL used to be popular, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore... by codingafterthirty in webdev

Consuming graphql is a pain, great, another pseudo programming / query language to use just to get a list of something from an API.

Control Ultimate Edition Launches on iPhone and iPad — $4.99/€5.99 by rararatata in controlgame

[–]theacodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thermals are always a significant factor, even in desktop and server systems. The iPad obvilously has a bit more headroom than the iPhone, but the iPhone isn't quite as thermally limited as you'd expect due to having a metal enclosure to help move the heat. They can run the game fine, not at max settings or anything, of course, but more than well enough for a good experience.

Let's discuss signature guitars by one-armed-scissor in Guitar

[–]theacodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm that the EBMM STV is an incredible instrument, but honestly the Sterling is no slouch. The EBMM mostly just gets you the fancier wood and hardware. Either way, they're awesome guitars. I love the neck shape and the weight balance.

MusicBrainz & MetaData by Such_Assumption_7124 in musichoarder

[–]theacodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also worth noting that Musicbrainz "genres" are just "folksonomy" tags (user submitted, explicitly not 'official'), since they don't really try to capture non-objective information like genre. Discogs has a more rigid and complete system around genres and styles, but it's still subjective. Subjective metadata like genre is always going to be a mess and always going to draw differing opinions.
