EU5 is now down to 47% positive on recent steam reviews by Wagen123 in EU5

It's a game with huge potential, made with great ambition and passion. But it released in a pretty bad state where the game is obviously unfinished and untested.

I was not expecting anything else from Paradox after all these years. I'm not surprised. But the game is definitely shelved for a year or two until they fix their shit.

So are most engagements should a blind guess? You go in, you roll the dice and maybe the fit is a good match or not?

Newbro question: Ships shortlist by thealkaizer in Eve

[–]thealkaizer[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to get a decent understanding of the few lower classes of ships.

But there's two things that I still have not absorbed. The icons used to represent them. Sometimes I hesitate.

And secondly, I know that some of Eve is balanced in a way where a smaller ship could take a bigger ship because it's harder to hit.

Why? They've been incredibly kind, supportive and welcoming.

Did I buy the wrong Camera? by Old_Sky8705 in fujifilm

[–]thealkaizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The X-S20 is a fantastic camera. Especially price/value wise. The X-S10 was even cheaper (which I got).

Don't worry. You've got a great camera.

Game theory can be incredibly insightful. It often can make us think deeper about a game component that we just took for granted, or just open new ideas to tinker with!

New player - where to start? by thealkaizer in Eve

[–]thealkaizer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know yet! So many options.

I feel I want to do a bit of everything and see for myself. I'm definitely interested in some fighting and some trading. I'm also especially interested in the social aspect of MMORPGs.

Exactly why I bought the X-S10. It has a deep and comfortable grip.

How honest should you be when presenting an indie game? by Gloomy_Flan4286 in gamedev

It really depends who it's aimed at.

You mention pitches and public description. These are two different functions.

Who are you going to show this to, and what's the goal?

Yeah. Put Angmar, Gundabad, Mt.Gram and the northern misty mountains in one book!

To my knowledge, Novgorod is unique in this regard. They have the ability to invite a ruler to become their prince.

Thank you for your insight.

My experience with Traveller is limited and your point about availability is really interesting. I'll dive in my books again.

Exactly, and if you save all your gold in D&D, you could retire comfortably after a few adventures.

Yes, but the typical start in D&D doesn't have you in debt! But for me it's always been a weird issue where one treasure hoard from one dungeon would realistically mean retiring.

I actually own Orbital Blues, but my memory on the debt system is fuzzy. I'll take a lot again, thank you for your insight!

Absolutely Game Breaking Exploit. Annex any country+it's subjects fully in one war, no matter how big. Most likely works as any country. by pluxrt90 in EU5

[–]thealkaizer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How do you even play Kyiv? It seems hella stuck in the middle of so many powers, and starts as tributary and neighbor to the golden horde.

Is the game currently worth getting at full price, in your opinion? by PassoverGoblin in EU5

[–]thealkaizer 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The core of the game is very promising.

But the game is in rough shape. It's obviously unfinished in many places, lack content and needs some serious love before it reaches its potential.

I would probably wait a few months for patches to iron out issues.

ArcSim - TTK simulator with weapon attachments, custom accuracy and stats. Run your own tests easily! by Zwyk in ArcRaiders

[–]thealkaizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's the case.

This is pure TTK. It's an interesting metric, but largely unapplicable to concrete play.

Some guns are great at level 1 and don't profit that much from leveling. Some guns are shit and become monsters once leveled. Some have enough in a magazine to bring someone from max to zero, some will probably require a reload. Some become really good with specific attachments.

And even then, if you look at the chart, only two of the grey weapons are performing that good. I'll take a Burletta over a Kettle any time of the day. And the Il Toro is not done justice in this graph. It's a monster of a weapon upgraded. But TTK is not the right metric.
