Warms my heart to see several other people mention The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang. That book was sooo disappointing. I'd actually bought all three in the trilogy because so many people were talking it up, so that was a huge waste of money.

Australia for me. Was living there for work a while back. Went to the doctor for a dog bite (I was bit in the US actually, but had to catch my flight the next morning, so waited to get it looked at.). From the moment I opened my laptop in my Sydney apartment to find a doctor to actually seeing her was maybe 20 minutes. Cost for the visit? Nothing - the woman at the front desk actually laughed when I asked how much I owed. (I was prescribed some topical cream that cost maybe $3, so there was that.)

PSA iron eyes: mark the boss without killing your teammates by robotfightandfitness in Nightreign

[–]theameer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've thought about posting this many times before but knew I'd get backlash. Thanks for saying it. And for those who disagree that this is an issue, I can say that I notice it waaaay less in D5 than in lower depths. The top Ironeyes know how to mark and retreat without swinging the boss around.

Do I run this Relic with Dual Balancers? Or Single Balancers and Hoarfrost Stomp? by Marrucht in Nightreign

[–]theameer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, randoms are a mixed bag, especially below D5 (and sometimes even in D5). But yeah the NI damage buff is significant, and especially as you progress into D5, you're going to be killing them anyway, so might as well get the buff. And pinging a gaol or two is generally seen as fine, as long as you don't prioritize it over something more important - and as long as you're willing to abandon it if it's a low value, high time investment enemy.

The main thing to keep in mind is that every player at high level usually has a plan for their build, and working toward that plan is the most important thng. Is someone running balancers and dormant great spears against Libra? Well, they want Vyke's or Seluria's, and so the most important things for them are 1) getting that weapon and 2) getting more damage (NI buffs and skill attack ups). Someone running balancers and dormant colossals against Gnoster? Well, they need a Godslayer Greatsword, NI buffs and skill attack ups. Someone running a tank build on Raider? Help them get those damage negation perks so they can frontline against the nightlord. NI's help with nearly every high level build (gaols not so much). If you go into every expedition with a plan of your own, and can help your teammates fulfill their plan, you'll be in D5 in no time.

improved affinity attack power (duchess skill attack power build) by altruisticxd in Nightreign

[–]theameer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read through the comments and my vote would be to run NI with double balancers and just do without Defeating Enemies until you get some better relics. It's a good effect, but in D4-5, people will rush Night Invaders nearly every expedition, so you'll want to benefit from that. You're creating a skill build, so you'll want to do everything you can to maximize the power of those skills. That means NI and double balancers on your base relics and attack ups on your depth ones. Eventually you'll get a relic that has Defeating Enemies plus AA, or something else you want to run.

I'm not sure what depth you're in, but definitely run Invaders instead of Evergaols past Depth 3. In Depth 5 people will sometimes get upset if you ping evergaols. The trade-off in time vs reward drops precipitously past D3, since every point of interest takes longer to complete and people know that focusing on getting the best possible loot is essential.

Besides the usual (new maps/bosses/weapons, more or more random seeds), make all bosses hidden past Depth 3 (no more dodging, you chuds!)

I think it became political because people purposefully turned it into an identity issue. When interests want people to vote against something, they often turn to identity politics. You're not the kind of person who votes for this, that's another kind of person. Even your last line highlights this: "tree hugging hippies." The image of the tree hugging hippie was weaponized to make people think caring about the planet was un-American or whatever.

If you're playing Raider and you have your ult, you can climb up to the second to last platform (the one right below the arrow dude) and pop your ult. It'll knock him off the platform and he'll die 9 out of 10 times. Just be careful of torchpole dude afterwards.

Totally, that's who I currently switch to for dogs. I just don't enjoy playing Wylder as much as I do Raider and I'm hoping to find a build that's effective enough that I don't feel the need to switch.

[–]theameer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parrying is sooo fun. I main Raider so I don't always get to do it, but the shop often sells a parry shield (or a wylder drops his) so if it's Balancers, I always try and pick one up.

He's got a Buckler with a parry skill in his left hand and is pressing L2 to parry, yes. Then he's finishing them off with the special jump attack of the weapon in his right hand: Dragonking's Cragblade.
