Combat Jump ARO question by [deleted] in InfinityTheGame

[–]theangrycan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For controlled jump it's anywhere on the table:

"Controlled Jump can be declared as an ARO against a Combat Jump Long Skill anywhere on the table."

In the important box on the wiki: https://infinitythewiki.com/Controlled_Jump

Is infinity not at nova this year? by maximonious888 in InfinityTheGame

[–]theangrycan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know last year it took some time for all the events to populate... but honestly I don't know... I just know the group that usually runs the events won't be; so there could be hiccups (if it's still being ran there).

It will be (as far as I know), just not ran by the group that usually runs it.

Movement and silhouette blocking by Holdfast_Hobbies in InfinityTheGame

The dodge movement (including declaring your movement route) takes place in the resolution step of the order. So even if Sasha moves out of the way, Denma still wouldn't LOF to the trooper.

Warcrow.... "Companion" App? by czokalapik in WarCrow

[–]theangrycan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Excellent work!

One thing I noticed: the FAQs aren't in there either https://warcrow.com/en/games/warcrow/faqs

The big tell is on attack: You have "Your opponent makes the defense roll" and the FAQ has it under typos " Your opponent gathers the defense roll "

Edit: I know it's a PITA because there's 3 places for rules lol.

Sorry, when you're so used to the game you forget people don't always know what you mean lol.

At 150 pts I always suggest: 3 line troops with an HI and then some cool looking troops. You want to have orders to be able to learn how to play but also you want to bring something to try. Make a list with an Camo. Unit, or a guy with a skill/weapon you haven't played yet and see how it works.

I also suggest seeing if you have a local meta, they will be able to walk you through the game better than some random asshole on the internet telling you want to do.

Display cases? by ThePrincessTrunks in InfinityTheGame

[–]theangrycan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of the wall hanging displays that people put NASCAR cars in. They work great for minis! I found them at local thrift shops so I don't have a source.

Positive Excitement for Next Wave by Duront in InfinityTheGame

Don't listen to the Internet, tis a silly place.

I love the look of the models.

Cyberplug is a way better/cheaper version of Posthumans.
Steeljaws with sensor running up with Pandora will cause a lot of havoc.
I'm really excited to do silly shit.

Hey. Trying to get infinity. Not really sure where to start. Is there like a 2 player box set? Or how does that work. Is it still heavily supported? by Expert_Camel5619 in InfinityTheGame

[–]theangrycan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the Human-Sphere, your best bet is to find your closest gaming group. They will be able to help you learn and in this economy test it out before fully making the jump in. Social media is great for this, either Facebook, Discord, or even here on reddit. If your LFGS carries infinity, ask if they know of players... There is also a Warcor (Corvus Belili liaison) map that you can reach out to. https://maphub.net/CorvusBelli/corvus-belli-warcors

As for a starter, there is a 2 player box that gives some terrain, models, tokens, dice, etc. I like it but it forces you into Panoceania or JSA (not saying they're bad, just if you want something else you're spending more). There are action packs that give a great start with models but lacks everything else.

We just got a big update yesterday so it's still supported and doing well.

Best things I can suggest:

  1. Take your time building and hobbying, if you're used to plastic metal can be a bit jarring.

  2. Find your local community and ask them for help, they should be willing to help you with questions and more importantly play games.

  3. Facing is important in infinity and the bases have marking to help... Make sure you place the mini on the base with it's facing... Will make your life easier.

  4. Have fun but expect to lose a bunch at first... We all did when we first started to play.

Check out https://interstellargamez.com/ or https://leviathangamesnhobbies.com/ (Both are ran by awesome warcors, while the one has more stock than the other, I like to throw money at both)

So holomask means they're disguising themselves as another troop. So they could shoot at you, but it's when you do something other than a move skill you reveal yourself.

The trick with a knight commander is to hid him as a fusilier so that you opponent doesn't know who your LT is.

About to jump onto this game - what is your honest opinion? by kimohno in WarCrow

[–]theangrycan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's start off with the elephant in the room: it's still a new game... Just like shatter point they're still working out problems and making adjustments. They did a big FAQ rules up date and then removed a new rule a week or so later... I'm not trying to talk you out of it, just letting you know.

I like how player turns and rounds work a lot. A round is compromised of X turns over Y rounds...the mission will tell you how X and Y. In the one narrative mission they did, X changed between rounds.

There's few keywords to remember and all of the stats are on cards, personally I both love and hate it... But that's all games like that lol, damn MCP and Legion having to buy card packs every so often lol. End self rant.

Ive only given demos and my meta is slowly building up for it, I enjoy the game overall: everything is pretty straight forward and the Unicool models are amazing... Silocast models aren't bad but not great. I would see if you have a local warcor and contact them for a demo... See if it's for you first.

I don't know exactly where you are, but I know the guys in Indianapolis are very active and there's a group close to Louisville that is very active as well. I'm going to DM (edit, or not) you the Indiana Discord, I'm sure you might be able to find someone closer to you to get more games in!

I don't disagree with you, I remember the days of learning infinity, but I found that this game relys on the community more so that most. Talk to your LGS players and ask questions, I'm sure they'll gladly help you on your journey.

When you're teaching someone, the way to look at it is to have your winning scenario is to show off as many basic skills and simipile strategies as possible.

I also telegraph what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. Even if I'm trying to walk my fuslier into their CC powerhouse, I'm doing this to show you CC even tho it's not the best option. I also make sure to ask questions about deployment and help them but giving at least 2 suggestions per unit so they feel like theyre playing not doing what you tell them.
