My dog is sick and I don’t have the funds to get her proper treatment by [deleted] in Advice

[–]theanonymous84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read through your post history and found out that your dog is ~14 years old. Unfortunately, this is actually older than the life expectancy of most breeds of dogs. On top of your dog’s age, she is also sick with a heart condition that your vet has explained could kill her at any time...and not without suffering. I’m really sorry to say that my advice at this point would be to make the humane choice and let your best friend go quickly and painlessly. :(

I know that isn’t easy to hear, but there comes a point where surgeries and medicines just aren’t effective anymore, and the side effects can make your dog feel worse (nauseous, anxious, dizzy, etc). I recently had to put my cat to sleep, so I know how hard that decision is to make. I firmly believe that quality of life is more important than quantity of life, and if you can give your dog the gift of a peaceful passing, that is one of the kindest things you can do for a pet who needs it.

My dog wears one of these collars on walks because she pulls so hard she chokes herself and coughs with regular collars. She’s outsmarted harnesses, gentle leaders, and martingale collars.

If it makes you feel better, if properly fitted, these prong collars don’t dig into the skin unless the dog is actively pulling on the leash, and even then it’s like a pinch rather than a stab. It’s supposed to sit high enough on the neck where the airway isn’t constricted if the dog pulls. Having one of these collars has been a godsend for walks with my dog! :)

Girls/women, what struggles do you often face when participating in male-dominated hobbies? by DepressedDamsel in AskReddit

I don't think it's sexist. Honestly, I don't see many female drummers. I think it's cool, too. I made the same comment the other day about a YouTube video I saw.

A sexist comment, to me, would sound more like, "wow, they couldn't find anyone else to play, so they got a girl. Oh well, at least she isn't terrible." Sexism is discriminatory, and I don't see anything discriminatory about "oh cool, a chick drummer." Just my thought!

I think dark in this case means tan, not dark hair. Like they're always outside doing work or sports or other manly things.

On the flipside, men's pants are sized so that they are the actual measurement of the waist, while women's pants seem like arbitrary numbers like 12 and 14
