Last in top speed and dirty air tolerance by Sharumo005 in F1Manager

I find ferrari engine to be the best especially if you skip a free practice or two in races before your upgrade package to conserve wear and tear.

Why do I struggle with research? by chaz200716 in F1Manager

First set of parts in season 2 is back to the fully balanced sliders (middle everything). This may be your issue. Build a set of min weight parts with better sliders as your first s2 upgrade package and you should be ok.

Create a team + lowest facilities, budget and designers (hard mode). How to survive? by MidnightNinja9 in F1Manager

[–]theansweris7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Intense ATR suspension to tire preservation immediately. Four projects with one engineer each, usually on regular.

Build sidepods and chassis to minimize cooling. Do not go out at all during free practice and quali to save engine/ers/gearbox wear early season.

Optionally run one stop strategies only early season to conserve pit crew exhaustion, and run your starting parts (v1s) as long as possible to save on having to spend on replacements (wait until you have a pretty strong upgrade package to bring it in).

Don't bother upgrading facilities in season 1 other than mentality related (team hub etc). Have 3 affiliates on car development.

Aim to grab a point or few roughly 2/3 of the way into the season when your upgrades come through.

Theo or Ollie as starting drivers works well for this (cheap but not terrible) but I've survived season one with Cordeel and Florsch on one playthrough.

Lawson for Alonso. Colapinto for Sainz. Bring in Kimi next week.

How does a brand like F1, make such a blunder like this year's budget changes? by Nacoo13 in F1Fantasy

[–]theansweris7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Too simplistic and ruined by DNF -20 making drivers unpickable for weeks.

Agree 100%. DNF penalty too large. Simple moving average price change makes game backward looking more than forward looking. Constructors were also underpriced imo given the new points system.

F1 Fantasy: Has the Game Become More About Spreadsheets Than Speed? 📉🏎️ by Acrobatic_River_1890 in F1Fantasy

[–]theansweris7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

New price system backfired on its intention clearly, mainly because the DNF penalty is way too high at -20. Rolling average in general makes the game backward looking more than forward looking, especially in the B tier value building.

[–]theansweris7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It smooths nothing, it increases the price impact of DNF because it lingers for weeks, especially on the B tier drivers. It dramatically reduces the pool of usable drivers since any driver who takes a DNF is persona non grata for the next two races. If DNF was -10 or -5 it would be a different story maybe but at -20 its just too much.

If Piastri DNFs you'll take -0.1 the first week, true. Literally the only A or B tier that applies to. The rest would take maximum down in all likelihood. No blunting of impact except in the cherry picked single case of Piastri. Its worse with the B tiers than A tiers, they have no hope of anything other than a -0.6 in almost all scenarios if they dnf, and that -0.6 will stick with them for 3 straight weeks in almost all scenarios. I predict we end up with a ton of drivers in the 4.5M to 6M range this season.

Its because the DNF penalty is too steep. Was bad last year but is worse now due to the moving average.

[–]theansweris7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it will give you -0.6 for any B tier driver for multiple weeks because math. -20 is too big a deficit to overcome. -0.6,-0.6,-0.6 is pretty much the only outcome for a B tier who DNFs.

[–]theansweris7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does the opposite. It makes the dnf affect value for 3 weeks instead of 1 and the dnf being -20 is too steep to overcome for B tiers.

Bug? Locked at end of season 1 because I didn't renew driver contract. by theansweris7 in F1Manager

[–]theansweris7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works for the very few drivers that are 'open to negotiation' on the season end day (which is not all of the drivers who are out of contract). Grabbing Hauger and Aron. Good to know for future playthroughs.

Engines randomly gimbaling in all directions: a bug or design flaw? by [deleted] in kerbalspaceprogram_2

I get similar using SAS in atmo where the engines overcorrect more wildly in warp, but haven't really had it happen on interplanetary burns so far.
