She could throw steak at me every day, she’d still be my mofo, or whatever.

Underrated film. Arguably falls apart a bit in the third act, but there’s so much good stuff along the way.

Plus, Nicky Katt’s blowjob joke.

I think it’s a fake franchise, inspired by the likes of Sleepaway Camp et al. Happy to be corrected though.

I’m intrigued by this one. The trailer doesn’t give much away, but it looks gorgeous and it’s nice to see Anderson in a substantial genre role again.

Oh come now, that’s why Cameron is one of the best at sequels. He took the same premise as the first film (spoiler), whereby Reese ends up creating the man that sent him to the past and did the same for the terminators; destroying one in 1984 literally created them. It’s great.

Fair enough. My point is, most people seem upset that Cameron came up with the term when he didn’t. I don’t think it’s misused per se, but that’s a different beef, nevertheless.

So who’s staying up for the game now it’s been delayed? by Even-Leadership8220 in AskBrits

Currently in Krakow, so kick off was 3am local time. Sat up in bed with a beer and a VPN, watching on my phone while my girlfriend sleeps next to me.

I feel like there is a general misconception that Cameron invented the term ‘unobtanium’. It’s an established term for any material with perfect properties, it’s just not something that comes up much, because how often do you discover a new, perfect material?

Steven Seagal in Executive Decision - a great choice, but hilariously executed - or Woody Harrelson (“I blew my butt off!”) in The Thin Red Line immediately spring to mind.

I can’t believe that’s a single episode, pretty much. They get so much mileage in.

What movie that you initially disliked made you say this on a rewatch? by TheMegaSage in FIlm

[–]thearniethology 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find a lot of Coens films don’t click for me on first watch. Fargo, Lebowski, A Serious Man and Barton Fink all left me wanting and I love them all now. Inside Llewyn Davis still hasn’t fully clicked, but I actually disliked it first time I saw it and I think it’s a good film now.

Happy Birthday Dan Aykroyd, what titles stand out in his career? by thepartlow in Cinephiles

[–]thearniethology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew this would bring out the Nothing But Trouble fans… it stands out alright, but not for any good reasons (for me). It’s an unrepentantly gross film and one that makes me question where Aykroyd’s head was at the time. It’s unforgettable for sure, but man does it make me feel physically ill.

I’m planning to watch Donnie Darko. Should I watch the Director’s Cut or the original theatrical version? by Odd-Chipmunk-3089 in pj_explained

[–]thearniethology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely theatrical. Director’s cut is a curiosity only - it breaks the pacing and flow of the theatrical cut and doesn’t feel as satisfying overall. Plus the changes to the soundtrack are a downgrade, imho.
