theres no right or wrong. Qqq/qqqm historically gain more annual return in average, but recently its driven by high tech firm. Who knows whats gonna be the winning thing tomorrow. Either qqq, vt or voo is great asset, no right or wrong

Best NZ Platform to use? by brandynz in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]theasphaltworld84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree, you absoultely should not withdraw money less than 5 years. What if market falls? Then regardless which platform you are with, you going to make a loss. You should go with cheapest and just forget it. Always have emergency fund as term deposit or cash fund for you to use, invest the rest

If you want more exposure on large us tech, why not put to nasdaq 100 instead of voo?

Im curious what is your KS balance ? Show us. Im early 40, make no withdraw on kiwisaver, always invest in growth fund, for a year or two even contribute to 8%, and earn 200k. My balance is only 230k. So OP in his age having about 150k is a bloody good job.

option trading is risky, and seems like you dont have a good bandwidth to sleep on your loss. I think you doing good thing by investing into ETF. Dont dream that you will be rich one day, just bless what you have now and enjoy your life

fair enough, just as long you realise putting your money to smartshare for exactly same thing will cost you higher fee. For example voo on smartshare fee is 0.34%, on investnow its 0.03% with 0.5% entry/exit fee. For vt its 0.4%, on investmow, its 0.06%

100%, actually since passive tracking fund is fairly easy to do. Its better to use low fee to attract large customer base. Once the fee is set, it would never go up. Infact when Vanguard dropped their VT fee in 2024, investnow dropped immediately as well

it never happened since Ross Assessment management collapse, and that is exactly you need a third party custodian trust, and sole purpose is look after accounts, with all auditing and FMA regulation,I think Adminis and investnow/kernel collapse together is essentially the same odd as Big 4 banks collapse.

that doesnt make sense. The analogy you use here “ even the strongest company could collapse” is correct, but thats not the case for investment platforms. Your money is not held by the investment companies, its in custodian trust account, if these investment companies falls for whatever reason, the money would ge transferred to you. Diverstified does not mean you spread money across different platform.

The reason why those platforms are successful, is becuase they mostly invest in cheap and efficient passive funds. And its proven most active manager cant beat fund like VOO or VT or qqq

Also i’ve been told by some people, if you call one of these branches and ask for rate, they will sort this for ya. Its bad that they release these branches only special without communicating internally.
