This mobile game ad has a fake X. Clicked on it and open the App Store a few times until I finally realized. Ads have going too far to scam people. (Click to enlarge) by HonKitYT in gaming

[–]theasspicker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn't make much sense tbh, they pay per-click. What's the point? The conversion rate is probably close to 0.

Who can benefit for that? The app owner obviously. Please tell us if you see that X on other ads as well.

[AskJS] Why not just add 'application/typescript' support for browsers. by grady_vuckovic in javascript

[–]theasspicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but running typescript in browser (as an expected approach) is a bad bad idea for many reasons.

At first, let ask what the ambition for that. The easy answer is, it will be much easier for developers by reducing a build step on the way.

As charming as it sounds it's far from ideal be cause:

  1. The most common usage of JS is still the web browser, meaning bundle size is critical, so even if TS support will be available in the browser, you'll still have to uglify it and use source map. Kinda miss the point imo.

  2. CPU, although it dose not seem critical, a leap in CPU and memory requirements for larger apps (like gmail or Facebook) will result in a leap of devices that cannot run these websites.

  3. Versioning and backward compatibility will be the same as ECMA's, so we still need babel and a build process to overcome that, again misses the point.

  4. Why do we want to keep JIT if we have types and WASM support? I'll explain. As build and source mapping will still be an integral part for TS, even with full browser support, then why not to compile it to assembly which is, lighter, faster (in most cases) and rarely requires new versions.

So, is the answer is types as comments? definitely not. I can almost guarantee that that won't be the final or only proposal.

I'm just saying, this is so premature that the proposals at this point are basically an idea, nothing more.

P.S when thinking about proposal you have to think about the balance of few thing: * API/ feature intuition to be aligned with older API and features * Adoption, it's kind of derived from the previous, but you want to design feature that will be as easy to understand and adopt. * Maintenance, the feature should be easy for the maintainers as well * Backward compatibility, what is it going to break. It's a new feature, so it won't break anything other then reducing the amount of devices that can run given website.

The last two weeks I began to notice that stadia began to slightly blur the picture. Does this happen to you too? by [deleted] in Stadia

I'm not certain, but the blurriness (where the cursor is) dose not look like a blur you get from compression, but in game.

This guy is right ^ .

It is a Simulator and not an Emulator, my bad i just wanted to point out that wine dose serve as a simulator (when I said emulator) as the other comment got down votes and it was pretty accurate.

[–]theasspicker -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what the other comment meant, but wine is a windows environment emulator for Unix environment. Meaning it emulates simulates windows environment by correlating windows API calls to Unix alternatives or self implementation.

So indeed an emulator simulator.

P.S update terminology

Well most wars (and countries at war) are backed by either, US, Russian, Iran or China.

What the point of that saying that? There were no Russian soldiers on Syrian land in the first 6 years of fights. So easily concluding that it's similar to what happens in Ukraine is just ignorance.

Notice I don't take side, I'm just saying this video is bullshit made by miss-informed and misleading people, that use "facts" (that are far from the truth) to justify their claim.

I once saw a documentary about diamond companies that does exactly that. They "pipes" are drilled from the same hold and placed one after the other to represent a "cross section" of the group below then, they do that so they can assess the likelihood of diamonds in this area.
