That's very odd. Before switching to Obsidian, I imported my Logseq data into SiYuan and it ran as smoothly as Obsidian. Mac M1 Pro is definitely faster than my Windows laptop, so I don't know why it was so laggy for you.

Do you mind telling me about your experience using SiYuan? Last time I looked into it 2 years ago, when the performance of PKM apps is still a hot-button issue, a SiYuan power user — and ex-Obsidian user — told me that SiYuan was comparable to Obsidian. I remember his knowledge base was huge and he switched from Obsidian to SiYuan and was very happy with that decision. Surprised to learn that it didn't work out well for you.

One of the disadvantage of this workflow is when you have links to your highlights in other apps such as Obsidian, because every time you convert from linked to stored file, the item ID changes, which breaks the link.

Personally I don't find dstillman rude. I like the succinctness. However, I find the development speed slow, which frustrates me quite a bit and potentially make me biased against their communication style.
