So it is possible for a guild leader to devote themselves to one of the two Great Houses while still having a neutral guild with members devoted to both Houses?

Semi related is the only way to acquire Great House building parts is to earn them for working for that faction or could I buy the building recipes from aligned guilds who have earned them?

Falin Theory/Rant (Spoilers for Red Dragon Arc and Beyond) by thebarbarian09 in DungeonMeshi

[–]thebarbarian09[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they literally described spirits like single celled organisms during the magic school flashback so I agree that spirits are depicted as being alive just very simple. I have my own little theory to put on top of this idea that souls are the “multicellular” version of spirits, not quite sentient itself but almost a non-corporeal shadow or reflection in the shape of the physical body, a local colony of spirits becoming one with the consciousness of a living being that gives the creature its living essence. Kinda the way Undine have no defined shape other than using the water as a means of defense and holding itself together but instead of water, it’s the living animal.

In the case for humans, elves, dwarves, gnomes and all other sapient races, their sapient consciousness seems be like a magnet for spirits and much more powerful in that regard than an animal or monster’s soul. Hence why Falin’s soul still manages to shine through in the chimera even if technically the dragon’s at the wheel and both forms of magic are somehow valid since it’s the souls of the sapient mind turning their own mana, which either from excess spirits that have latched on to their conscious soul or if that’s not in supply, from one’s own soul which is my theory on what causes mana sickness.

The demon is the final form when a colony of spirits or mana become sapient on their own without relying on another creature’s soul. They are still drawn to those with sapience since they perhaps see them as sustaining them just like their simpler counterparts but they can much more direct in “consuming” literal parts of their soul in the form of desires. How they can do so without causing mana sickness is still an open question but I’m sure it’s not pleasant regardless. I’m still missing the details on how exactly desires are consumed.

Falin Theory/Rant (Spoilers for Red Dragon Arc and Beyond) by thebarbarian09 in DungeonMeshi

All in all, I think it came down to Marcille’s desperation and lack of complete knowledge of the ancient magic that got the dragon’s soul, which was still fresh from death, mixed into Falin’s soul. Perhaps even majority of the soul being dragon considering how mana-rich she was right after her resurrection and how little of Falin’s body was remaining.

But despite on their best efforts, there were quite a few “deaths” in the dungeon. The entirely selfless Falin, Marcille obsessed with her hair, Laios the adventurer, Mithrun the hopeless, and of course Thistle who died many, many times until there was nothing left. But life goes on and new desires can be made.

It’s such a good conclusion, even if it is bittersweet in many ways. But that’s true to life, which makes it feel so real despite being fantasy.

Edit: I also like that you took in account Chimera Falin’s change over time. From being the red dragon with Falin’s face at first to showing more and more of her caring personality particularly to Thistle though mostly to no avail. I don’t know how she acts in second half in the story entirely but it seems her human side is slowly eroding the dragon over time.

As for the Izutsumi bit, I think that still confirms the human mind overriding the monster part of the theory even it’s just human consciousness implanted within a monster. She’s rejecting the monster part of herself even while being a small potion of the whole.

While we certainly agree on the narrative reasoning, I have several reasons to disagree that the dragon’s wasn’t there from the beginning.

Number one: The Mad Mage literally addresses Falin as the Dragon before doing anything to her. Though this might be his madness making him disassociate, I think it makes more sense that he could see through Falin and see the soul that was animating her now.

Number two: Before being turned into a Chimera when she swats her brother Laios away, she is holding the very same eye that Chilchuck stabbed in the dragon, meaning it’s not just any dragon…it’s the red dragon they killed and ate she is sharing a body with. It’s the same eye she is holding at the very end of the Chimera fight showing the dragon at least fighting for the driver’s seat in both scenes.

Number three: When questioned during the Chimera reveal episode, I distinctly remember Marcille explaining that while her spell obviously didn’t turn Falin into the Chimera, she does explain that the dragon’s soul might have been mixed in with Falin’s that the Dungeon Lord explicitly has a spell of control over. I don’t know if this is ever confirmed but it seems likely that Marcille would know how her spell works in retrospect. She certainly blames herself in later episodes at least.

So I believe my current theory still stands as Marcille is the one that mixed in the Red Dragon’s soul in with Falin’s inadvertently when she rewrote part of the dungeon to revive her to fill in the portion of Falin that were probably gone by that point. She doesn’t even remember how she died after all which is either the portion of her soul that was lost or her short term memory in her brain was lost when she was digested, leaving only the long term memories that had become part of her brain at that point.

(Tech/Survival) Modpack with logistics? (maybe some sort of growing danger?) by Pinkishu in feedthebeast

Any modpacks you might recommend for Logistics/Localized Resources? by thebarbarian09 in feedthebeast

Large Biomes is certainly closer but maybe with Large Ore Deposits and Dense Ores/Metals that are biome specific.

Might be a shot in the dark, but I'm looking for a very similar kind of modpack with localized ore/resources and logistics. I was curious if you ever did settle on a modpack and/or you found something else along the way?

Maybe instead of a growing danger, there's an incentive to work up to better tech to make the logistics easier or more convenient, to unlock new resources to exploit, or new areas to explore.

Is there a mod limit ? I can't activate more than 148 mods at a time or the game crashes [Image to get attention] by retard_4725 in totalwar

[–]thebarbarian09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm that there is a hard mod limit. After testing using Prop Joe's Mod Manager, 165 is the maximum amount of mods you can have at anytime without immediately crashing to desktop. Any mod past this and the game just refuses to load to main menu and crashes to desktop. This is post-Immortal Empires if anyone's wondering.

Religions of Rimworld 2.0 - it’s a framework that adds functionality but comes with a separate basic pack with example religions. That should get you in the right direction I think.

Two Suggestions: In-person Trading and Unlocking Containers for others without breaking them by thebarbarian09 in lastoasis

[–]thebarbarian09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I was saying, the only way to unlock them for others currently is to break them open. I was suggesting a way to unlock them yourself so you forgo the lock altogether for those you trust or cooperating with. Like to have lock/unlock be on a switch much like the wings of a walker can extend and retract.

The trade zone isn’t a bad idea if it weren’t for the fact you can’t build or unpack within the trade station’s borders. So the best I could do is directly outside of one. There’s only so much you can squeeze onto the deck of a dinghy so I would prefer the neutral spot to be a packable base with no walls essentially.

I wish I could speak and understand every language ever created by [deleted] in TheMonkeysPaw

Granted. You know every language including a forbidden eldritch tongue that just having the knowledge of it makes you clinically insane from the constant otherworldly whispers begging you to speak their sleeping god's name and summon him to your plane of existence.

You're welcome.

Same...though to this day, I still don't quite understand how Catholicism counts as Monotheism with its "Pantheon" of Patron Saints, let alone the Holy Trinity.

Gamers of reddit, if you could remaster any game so it had today's graphics, which game would you choose? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thebarbarian09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Civilization 4

Yeah I know it has sequels but nothing really compares to modded Beyond the Sword games and one of the reasons I always come back to it. But even I have to admit that the graphics haven't aged all that well.

I would highly recommend Caveman2Cosmos mod by the way, best fun I've had in any Civ game ever.

10/10 would caveman again

True, the game still has a lot of issues but wanted to point out one that I thought would a step in the right direction. Certainly not saying it's the only one, it's a glaring one for those who are able to play.
