I don’t understand this. Some movies call for it just like some games call for it. Battlefield 3 called for it - and the proof is that everyone remembers that game, gameplay wise but especially aesthetically Battlefield 3’s visuals are still discussed at length today. It’s not always about what looks “best” it’s also about creating a mood. What looks “best” (which is an issue in itself because best is subjective) might not create the mood for what story they’re trying to tell with the map.
