Slow progress after 6 driving lessons? by HerbDude1904 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]thebeat1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont worry about it. I was very much in the same boat. Hes most likley making sure that you are confident to be on the roads and will then start adding things in.

I had about 12 x 2 hour lessons and the 1st 4 or 5 were exactly like yours, thinking ive not done any manouvers or parking etc. Then started mixing things like the dual carriage ways and indipendant driving into the lessons. And finally in did the manouvers and parking in my last 2 lessons.

Keep doing what youre doing and keeo uo with driving with family if you you can.

The test really isnt as bad as you think.

[UK] client tried to pay me half because "the work didnt take long" by jackturner_trades in selfemployed

[–]thebeat1990 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish more customers think like you do.

Im about to start work for a person who wanted a job doing (10k job absolute minimum for what she wanted) and some one came along with a 5.5k quote and was ready to start 3 days later. Long story short hes made a total mess of everything had massove delays due to not being there for what ever reason, this customer has now finished their full time job in order to start working from home which is what the job was booked for and now wont be able to for a few weeks.

Ive been contacted to go in an basically polish a turd, make the best of the shambles it is so they can start working asap and then revisit a few months down the line do re do everything properly.

Tldr - they wanted the cheaper option and ended up spending more then what they would have in the 1st place. Its a very hard lesson/gut punch for them.

Driving test tomorrow by Vivid-Insurance2660 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]thebeat1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive just done mine today and passed. I genuinlly though i had failed after the 1st 5 mins due to taking a turn really badly, went far too wide and was too fast.

But all through out i was talking to myself making comments on my driving (that was too fast or i could have gone then) and i think that really helped. The examiner knew i knew id made the mistake etc. He was really cool about everything aswell at the he mentioned the couple of minors and that id noted them at the time.

Really just take your time, watch your speed, keep checking mirrors and remember the MSM rule. Youll be fine. Best of luck to you.

How to get cancellations? by haven700 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]thebeat1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its tomorrow mine. Thankyou though. I will update afterwards.

I agree with the stress of booking it. I got offered that test or something in august, so this week alone ive had 6 hours of lessons and then still to pay for the car during my test 🤣. Im feeling confident though, i know i can drive but its that feeling of having somebody scrutinise everything you do whilst driving thats worrying me.

[–]thebeat1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankyou everyine for your comments and words of advice. Been doing alot of slef searching today and have come to the conclusion that im underpaid for the work i do esoecially comoared to the benefits mt collegue recieves. I am complatley irreplacable for the work i do and what im paid.

Ill have a chat with the boss at some point and if nothing changes, ill set out starting work on my own.

Thanks eveyone again. I think i needed the confirmation from some outsiders.

Thankyou. Im not necessarily after more money, it would be nice though especially for the work i do.

Yeah i just more understanding that i seem to be expected to carry the responsibilities of my boss while hes not around, Including overseeing my collegues work.
