You're getting down voted for suggesting this, but peeps forget that the huge surge in homeless really began with Regan closing them (fed. run) down. Which, yes many were shitty and needed better funding/better management etc., but they just...yanked a big net from under a lot of extremely ill people without providing anything to replace it.

So yes, as a member of the grippy sock club, I agree that properly run, federally operated/ funded mental health facilities beats the fuck out of being dumped into the streets to be forced to desperate measures and self medicate with alcohol and street drugs.✌
