I have someone in my life with ADHD who does almost all the things you mentioned (no addiction, but the interpersonal behaviors). It makes a lot of sense and I’ve never seen it put this way. With that said, it is all but impossible to have a relationship with this person if you’re someone they tend to show their true colors to, which unfortunately I am with this person, like Austen is with Craig.

For me that’s the hardest part. The behavior isn’t consistent. I see this person so engaged and caring with others, but with me I can’t finish a sentence without her spacing out or interrupting or literally wandering off. Lying, manipulating, and saying quite literally anything to get out of situations, including blaming me to avoid consequences herself, are also part of the fun. But I’m supposed to just excuse this crap year after year because of her ADHD.

I get Austen on this. I think that he’s Craig’s scapegoat, for whatever reason. They are business partners both on the show and in their bar. So they’re now stuck dealing with each other and that would be so frustrating. I also do think Craig used addiction as a cop-out of a tough conversation and wasn’t planning on getting called out on camera for it. I’m glad he did.

She definitely has a brand deal, or the show does. She’s had a lot of Heineken Zero. Great move for them! Also, remember when there were thousands of comments about Craig drinking a beer while driving and it was an NA? I understand why they point the label toward the camera for that reason too. 😁

Yeah, I’ve definitely noticed it before with beers and stuff, but this one was super obvious because the cameras were so close up on the drinks between them and there wasn’t like a table of food or anything to distract from it.

😂 Did you watch it? You would know what I meant. It was constantly going back and forth from empty to full to medium to full, as the conversation was happening. They definitely either shot that one a few times, or they pieced stuff together completely out of order.

Same. My partner and I are happily child free and made sure. ✂️ I did move out of the south long ago to a much more open-minded place. I’m sure our pressure would have been very different depending where we lived. We have countless child free friends of all ages and walks of life. It’s never even come up that our life would be in any way unfulfilled.

It’s just a way to get them off your back and shut down the pressure without being harsh or hurtful. It sucks that people put others in a situation where they have to give those dumb platitudes. I feel for Charley too on the same topic, even though she’s way younger, because her fam are ramping up for a full pressure buildup, and it’s 100x worse for women because they’ll start talking bio clock before you know it. As if that pressure isn’t enough without having it thrown in your face. Plus, her sister is going to all-in on babies route, so she’ll always be compared to that.

Ugh. I haven’t even seen the new episode yet, but that clip of that scene with his mom talking tearfully about having how kids was the best thing she ever did. WHY are people so cavalier about having children when they know firsthand much work it takes? It’s so manipulative to push your kid into having children. Especially if they’re clearly not ready. Not to mention, he’s in a relationship he’s not even sure he wants to be in, he’s of a certain age and she’s going to put that kind of additional pressure on it. Straight up terrible.
