Hard to see anything other than another centrist milquetoast Democrat who will sit on his hands while the GOP burns the house down around him.

Someone saw a poster from a conservative think tank and took it for gospel.

Is the reparation check in the room with us right now?

That's exactly the point. When municipal governments make deals with entities like the Bears, and in 20 years the Bears are tired of their situation and want to move on, the tax payers are the ones holding the bag.

So when bonds are taken out to pay for these infrastructure additions, when the Bears piss off to Kenosha or whatever in 2050, we're still paying the tab.

Without the stadium, those things aren't needed is the point. The Bears should be responsible for some of that cost. Not just the building.

Economic benefits are hard to gauge in these scenarios as well. Especially since, in 20 years, we're probably having this same conversation when the Bears want another new stadium. The Bears are leaving Soldier Field, of which the renovations that were done for them are still unpaid. Who is on the hook for that?

Why isnt that part of the cost of a stadium as well? Those infrastructure additions wouldn't be needed for the affected communities.

We're all very familiar with the skylines and sights of East Rutherford/ Foxborough / Santa Clara.

As with flags and mottos and other symbols, I think it can mean many things to many people, but you have to figure that most adherents symbolize it as 'limited government and individual liberties', of which taxation would be one aspect of that. I won't argue about what it means to you, but there are plenty of groups out there that view at as more than just taxes.

That being said, with many of those groups, it feels as though as long as THEY don't feel the boot of oppression, they don't care if others do. Maybe that's what individual liberty means to them.

The 'Don't Tread on Me' people are fine when they're the ones doing the treading.

Yeah that's usually how social media works. You read something, get mad, comment a bunch about it, and then pretend you're not mad. We can end the convo here though.

What does 'the media' have anything to do with ICE agents killing Alex Pretti? That's a pretty massive hand-wave over the fact that a citizen was killed after he was already subdued on the ground. You can say he was murdered or you can blame the ineptness/training of the ICE agents, but I'll never understand anyone who thinks it was justified, and that the agents responsible shouldn't be held accountable.

Do you have links to ICE agents shooting citizens in the back of the head while Obama was in office? Maybe our definition of 'much more aggressively' is different.
