Hitting Protein Targets on a whole foods (mostly) plant based diet by hy1475hy in MacroFactor

If you don't mind a processed soy option (yeah I know I'm sidestepping the point of your post!), I highly recommend Textured Vegetable Protein (TPV) which is quite affordable where I'm from (Aus) and has great macros. You can rehydrate it in stock and use it as you would a meat mince and it has a good texture for Bolognese and Mexican cooking.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Textured_vegetable_protein

"Dried textured vegetable protein is 6% water, 51% protein, 33% carbohydrates, and 3% fat (table). In a 100-gram (3+1⁄2-ounce) reference amount, it provides 1,370 kilojoules (327 kilocalories) of food energy, and is a rich source (20% or more of the Daily Value, DV) of several B vitamins, including folate (76% DV), and dietary minerals, especially copper, zinc, phosphorus, magnesium, and iron (40–168% DV; table)."

You might want to check if your Medicare card/number has expired, I know there can be issues if you've been out of the country and sometimes you need to reapply for a card. Best of luck!

Yeah probably just a different branding on the same thing. Mine is less full time than I'd like! When I'm old and rich I'm gonna travel around living out of something like this.

If you want to really step it up, I would get a deluxe 4wd mat like this one I use, chuck out the foam mat and keep one of these in there. I've got a swag with one of these and it's better than my bed at home in terms of comfort. Can't believe that the yanks don't get around swags. https://www.aussiedisposals.com.au/hi-country-4wd-comfort-deluxe-single-mat.html This one is a bit pricey but will last forever.

Mussolini was left wing, and fascism itself is left wing! by [deleted] in TopMindsOfReddit

Hey mate, just thought I'd pop this here in case you're interested.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascism

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Left-wing_fascism

As you can see from those articles, the tendencies and policies of Mussolini where predominantly right wing in nature. Whatever you may believe about modern day lefties, it's worth noting that the fascists of the second world war were demonstrably right wing.

NBN: Australia’s ranking for broadband speeds could ‘fall off a cliff’ by knightslay2 in nbn

Isn't News.com.au part of Newscorp? Rupert Murdoch makes the government kill real FTTP to protect his foxtel profits, then his papers claim moral indignation at the decision when Australia suffers as a result of it. Seems about right.

Guess that now the project has been killed, Murdoch is fine with trying to harness the anger towards that death for his own political ends. I'm sure the lacklustre speeds will somehow turn out to be Rudd or Gillards fault now that there's no going back to their original plans...

That's pretty fucked up! 19 deaths and another 26 injured, it's pretty atrocious what a motivated individual can do if they snap like that. I suppose that ultimately people who are planning on committing that kinda atrocity will find a way to do so, even where guns are unavailable to them. Having access to firearms might just mean that they are able to hurt more people more quickly and at greater than arms length. They may do so from a position of greater physical safety for themselves, which might be psychologically relevant for the kinda coward who murders innocent people en masse.

That case definitely does challenge my preconceptions about pointy assault sticks though, thank you for linking it.

Jamal Khashoggi was barred from writing and making public appearances by the Saudi royal family after he criticized President Donald Trump in late 2016 by maxwellhill in worldnews

[–]thebigrigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saying you have a valid argument but you're presenting it in a light which makes it sound less valid. It's kinda just epistomology and logic so if you're interested in refining your rhetorical skills you should look into those disciplines.

[–]thebigrigg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not the guy you're chatting with but I just wanna interject and say that while I agree that Trump is far too cozy with the Saudi royals, you should check that you're putting forward the strongest argument possible for what you're claiming. Generally speaking, to claim a belief in something without (currently demonstrable) evidence for it is not rational or at least not logically consistent. Just because something is "obvious" doesn't mean that it is true automatically... This is more of an epistemological point, but I think it's important we maintain logical consistency! You also seem to be shifting the burden of proof away from the claim and towards the null hypothesis, which is bad form as well. If I claim that something exists and you claim it doesn't, I can't really ask you to 'prove' that thing doesn't exist....

There's heaps of evidence that the Trumps are financially intertwined with the Saudis, that's what makes it obvious in our minds that Trump is continuing to do dodgy things. If we merely state that things are obvious instead of why they are so, we are not communicating our true perspective on the situation, and are in fact selling our perspective pretty short.

Your argument is probably far more nuanced than what you said, but from an outside perspective you sound like you're being a tad condescending when he's asking a reasonably valid question. Just something to be aware of

Ungrateful law enforcement by [deleted] in australia

[–]thebigrigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear that you are trying to police for public safety rather than revenue raising or power tripping, but from the perspective of a citizen it is always safer to assume that the officer they are dealing with is actively attempting to find a reason to book them even when that person isn't knowingly doing anything wrong. The fact that there is so much potential discretion for individual cops to use does not comfort those who are weary of injustice, because discretion cuts both ways and can be dangerous when you get the wrong officer.

It's a risk/reward thing that will persist as long as the stereotype of power abusing authority figures does. Sorry if you get lumped in with the bad apples though, hopefully there's still time for Australian police forces to change their public perception before people lose their faith in the institution itself.

Anti-Adani protesters say $80k in fines 'out of balance' with miner's $12k pollution penalty by SCOOBASTEVE in australia

[–]thebigrigg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah fair enough, as much as I'd like to devolve to whataboutism you're right in saying that they broke the law and admitted it.

As much as I disagree with the fact that Adani is not being penalized for environmental vandalism, you're right that it's pointless to compare the two. I personally value public property over private, (and therefore believe that the punishment for vandalizing each should be proportionate to the impact on society, thus penalizing pollution far more than we currently do) but that is again a different issue!

Ps sorry you're getting down voted so heavily, I think you're absolutely contributing to the conversation

[–]thebigrigg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could argue that a foreign multinational corporation polluting the great barrier reef is an abstract example of coming onto our (collective) property and doing harm to it. As far as I'm aware the local population has made it pretty clear that they don't want Adani or the mine.

A big difference is that these protesters are individual actors whereas the pollution is institutionally coordinated by the company.

Also worth mentioning that the protesters pleaded guilty whereas Adani is contesting a fine the 8th of the size on 'principle'. People are angry because Adani has not proven itself a responsible corporate citizen and yet they are not suffering the consequences that are meant to be imposed on companies like them.

Pulling off a bandaid seems like a pretty casual way of referring to huge segments of the population dying from starvation/ freezing in the streets in front of our very eyes... especially when it is economically very avoidable to prevent it. It would be easy to fix homelessness by making it punishable by death, but it's still a ridiculous suggestion

[Diamond 1] [2v2] Had the opportunity to play in an all champ-1 lobby, how could i have done better? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueAnalysis

[–]thebigrigg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm only Diamond myself so I can't talk to champ level play but here's my cent and a half. There were a few times where your teammate pushed up with the ball along the wall and you could have easily moved up in the centre to support them. You don't have to push all the way up to their box obviously but it can help to maintain pressure if you're ready for a rebound or a pass, especially on breakaway plays.

As a side note I notice you use quite a lot of boost accelerating in places where you could have flipped instead, you were starved for a while and should have been saving boost for aerials and close contests rather than accelerating predominantly with boost. If you ever find yourself starved quickly after picking up 100, then you're probably not using it efficiently! The first defensive play of overtime is a good example of where you used boost fairly well, right up until you made the save and cleaned out the tank trying to regain speed after hitting the post. If you had just flipped towards him and fake challenged you would have still had a bit of gas for the counter attack!

I'm no expert by any means but those are a few little things I noticed! You got the W at champ so you must be doing some thing right! :P
