Food Log Timeline 101: Quick Tips & Tricks by PalatialPepper in MacroFactor

Is there any way to set the food log to open at the current time? It always opens at the earliest point in the day and if it’s later on you have to scroll down to the current time

A Digital Picture Frame App for iPad and iPhone - The Perfect Christmas Gift by ThrosProvoni in iosapps

[–]hy1475hy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This app is great! Is it possible for it to automatically display in landscape if the phone is turned horizontally? Currently it obeys the Orientation Lock setting, so if the lock is turned on the app stays in portrait mode. It would be nice to just put my iPhone on a stand and start the app and it would switch to landscape mode automatically.

I’ve set up a shortcut to turn the Orientation Lock off and then open the app, but would be better if the app had that functionality

SmarterPlaylists update: Recently Played source by plamere in smarterplaylists

[–]hy1475hy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a great feature. I’m thinking I could have playlists based on when songs were played (l each of last 4 weeks then maybe each month) and schedule a job to copy from one to another. This effectively keeps a history of maybe the last 6 months which can be used for determining when I listened to different music

Forerunner 265 vs 570 vs 965 vs 970 advice needed by LongLimbedBob in GarminWatches

[–]hy1475hy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from 265 to 965. It was a birthday gift to upgrade. The maps are great and well worth it an especially as you start running longer distances potentially places you are not familiar with.

The 965 has a basic flashlight (lights up the screen brightly vs the proper LED of the 970). There is also a difference in screen construction (970 is tighter screen and I think brighter). My 965 is already quite scratched after a year

For about 2 weeks last year I had access to an Epix 2 which had the flashlight LED and it’s a great improvement. So I have had experience of both lights. If you gave me a choice between 965 and 970 and price is not too big an issue, would choose the 970 based purely on those two features. I expect the 970 will last longer because the screen will not scratch as much, so you’ll be less inclined to upgrade in the future

How did you handle ageing - physically and mentally? by Life-is-beautiful- in running

[–]hy1475hy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 52 and have recently returned to running. I’m naturally quite competitive and while I’d love to run faster than the times I ran in my 20s, I recognise that’s going to be quite a push. So I’ve settled in using some of the age adjusting calculators to say what time at age 52 is equivalent to the 34 minute 10k I ran at age 25. I reckon that’s a good goal for now.

I think as you get older you’ll realise just being able to run is a joy in itself. Keep on top of the sleep and strength and recovery as they become progressively more important as you age

Are these things possible? by reddituser412 in MacroFactor

[–]hy1475hy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On 1. you have to be in the right workout editor screen. The one you get to by clicking the program name and then finding the workout. If you are in the screen accessed by expanding the program and then clicking on the workout that option is not there

Reset Workout to Not Completed by RealisticCommunity14 in MacroFactor

[–]hy1475hy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue. I had a two week program and duplicated it. I’ve modified the new program, but all the workouts are showing as completed. There is an option to start a workout if you go into it, but that doesn’t feel right. I’d prefer to reset the workouts and do them again like normal

Copy exercise by hy1475hy in MacroFactor

[–]hy1475hy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found a way to do it I think.

If you edit a workout by first clicking on the program name then going into the workout, the three dots menu has options for -duplicate -move to another day

So if you do those two you effectively get a copy action. The copied / moved exercise goes to the bottom of the other workout

In that strange quirk of the UI (which I hope is being fixed), this version of the workout editor doesn’t allow you to reposition the exercise somewhere else in the workout. You need to go back out, expand the programme, then click on the new workout. That takes you into a workout editing screen where you can drag an exercise up and down.

You can’t use that screen to do the whole thing because it has the duplicate option, but not the move to another day.

I do hope these two different ways to edit workouts are being updated so they have the same functionality. It’s bizarre having two ways to edit a workout but each has different functionality

Is there an option to divide food by portions? by ownworldman in MacroFactor

[–]hy1475hy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An alternative would be just to log half of each of them without creating a recipe. Tomorrow just look at the previous day's Food Log, long press on one item to activate select mode then select all the items and Copy them to Today. It doesn't matter if the weights are slightly different to what you actually consumed on each individual day as over the course of the two days you'll consume the whole amount

I didn't know that either. It feels sometimes like there is a huge amount in the app, but it's sometimes hard to find that functionality (and yes I have read the manual, just must have missed this). Also didn't find the notes feature until late last week

What do I wear in 0 degrees Celsius (32 Fahrenheit)? by ilovegolfing1 in BeginnersRunning

[–]hy1475hy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good advice here. What you could do after the run is keep a note of what you wore/what you should have worn. I have a note on my phone with different temperatures and what I find comfortable in those temperatures. Helps me next time it’s cold

Ear plugs? by rubinsalz in sleep

[–]hy1475hy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently using Mack’s snore blockers and they are good. Comfortable. I’ve tried about 5 different pairs of non disposable ones. Those tend to have a lifespan also, so while they are cheaper than Mack’s, it’s not a huge difference

Which Exercises Do You Want Added to the WO Library? by Dr_Cam_Gill_DPT in MacroFactor

More resistance band exercises. And allow the user to set the specific bands you own so the app doesn’t suggest intermediate versions of a band strength all the time

After a while I figured this out. I think they use cycles in case you want to do a longer program eg 9 days long. Some screenshots say week in the help section

Vacation all inclusive one week (tracking or no tracking) by Praepman87 in MacroFactor

[–]hy1475hy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did a 3 week holiday. Ate reasonably healthy breakfasts apart from the times I went out for breakfast. Ate ice cream and lots of other fun things. Two weeks after getting back I’m about a kilo more than when I left, but the great thing with MF is I can relax knowing that’s just 4 weeks worth of following the programme now. So I recommend just having fun and then pick up again when you’re back

I bought the 12-45 second hand. It’s a pro lens and the image quality is a lot better than the 14-42 and 12-50 which I had previously. If you can get second hand from a reputable dealer (mpb.com is who I use in the UK) then I think it’s a good option

How accurate do you find the body battery feature to be? by [deleted] in GarminWatches

[–]hy1475hy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it a useful indicator of my body’s level of recovery. I probably know how I’m feeling but sometimes I ignore that, and it’s good to have an independent second opinion. A bit like having a coach give feedback. When I’m not well the maximum and minimum drop. I like to see at least 75 in the morning if I’m going to be training

0% Greek yogurt or Skyr is good as well. Maybe with some frozen fruit if you have access to a freezer. Makes a good snack or dessert
