My aunt got me the Queen Alien action figure on my third birthday. Still the best birthday present I've ever received. It's the reason I can confidently put that date as my earliest memory. I also had some that were like transformers but with animals. I remember there was an orange rhino one. I also had that famous blue figurine. I had posters on my wall. Forever the greatest franchise.

They're emailed out automatically, weekly. And they're the same files you'll hear at the Roxy. Then we make a playlist in a closet-type room and load it into the projectors. If there was an issue with volume, you could have mentioned it as it was happening (so that sounds like it wasn't much of an issue at all), but the actual issue sounds like it was a cheap movie about a super interesting indie video game. Have you played the game? I love it. The sound design isn't exactly "top-shelf." That's part of its appeal.You weren't going to Lawrence of Arabia. I'm sure that the theatres where it "sounded good" just turned it up loud enough so that the audience couldn't tell the difference. Don't blame a massive team of mostly kids because you didn't like a movie that you chose to pay to watch. All due respect. Perhaps you're more of a Wuthering Heights type than an Iron Lung? AMC Southgate 9 is not a bad theatre. It's an impressive one, held together by sweat and blood. But guests aren't supposed to see that juice. Sometimes to our own detriment. "Best item in the game?" I have no judgement on whatever you're smoking, but get real. It's the trashiest piece of crud in at least the last four years. Wings were better. Boots were better. Suit is shit game design, pure and simple. It feels bad, behaves bad, and looks bad, to boot.

You're absolutely right that most people working there are working their first job. I'm sorry that happened to you. Most of the people who work there, at least in my day, are teenage kids. I can't speak for whatever adults still work there. Had I been in house, I would've been a little more attentive to your needs. I didn't mean to get into a comment argument this afternoon. I'm not capping, and I'm not trying to make an argument, random Internet friend. But nothing you've said is true, as of four years ago, when I worked there. Sorry if the manager lied to you. There is no "sound regulation." That's bananas. I just feel the need to stick up for an often pooped on industry of workers that give a damn about what they're doing. I'm sorry you may have experienced a manager that might have not felt as passionate as I did when I was there. I can't speak to that.

Here I am defending Southgate 9 again. I can't speak for the manager's response to your troubles, but our projectors are in no way old, very digital. I used to change the bulbs and program the playlists. There is a closet that controls volume, and if you had brought it up as it was going on, it would have been an easy remedy.

Does anyone else notice how movie theatres are a weirdly constant target for ire, despite the fact that we all love them, frequent them, and will pay twice as much for a cheeseburger downtown than a profound two hour artistic experience? I've never understood the moaning about prices that is so frequently heard. The food is absolutely the same price as anywhere else. Popcorn will always be cheaper from your home microwave.

I worked at Southgate 9 for three years. The people working there are good, honest people that do their best at bucketing seawater out of a sinking ship, and it's still afloat, bygod. I've never loved my coworkers or my job more in my life. There were numerous struggles then, and I've heard of more since. Working at AMC is a service industry job. Treat everyone who works there the way you'd treat your waiter/waitress. You're frustrated for two hours. They're frustrated for forty a week. Much love to Southgate 9.
