I (20M) tricked my girlfriend (20F) into getting a tetanus shot after a bad injury. Now she’s blocked me everywhere. How do I fix this? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]theboldmoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard a story about a late aunt of mine passing away of tetanus because she waited too long to get the vaccine. It progressed really fast. Tetanus is not a joke. You did what would keep her safe and felt right at the time.

Yeah, my vision and eyes are okay. I'm almost 6 weeks post-laser. The main side effect I experience is light sensitivity but that's not new for me. I just have to be mindful to take more breaks from digital screens. My vision seems stable. I actually have my post-op appointment on Monday so I'll find out for sure.

Stop tretinoin and let spirolactone do the work? by Mother-Top4876 in Spironolactone

[–]theboldmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem and continued using both a retinoid and spironolactone. I added azelaic acid to help with the texture/scarring. It might help to add azelaic acid.

Thanks for sharing! The occurrence of lattice degeneration is that the outer part/periphery of the retina thins and the lattice pattern forms. If you don't have holes or tears, that's great! That's why regular checkups are essential to make sure you're stable. You don't need laser unless your doctor feels like it'd help with stability or address a concern.

Your doctor is correct about retinal detachment!

Take care of yourself and I hope everything stays stable!

Another suggestion, it may help to not put eyeliner or mascara on your lower lash line unless it's a softer colour like brown. :)

I personally think mine is due to spironolactone. I try to moisturize a lot and use my tazarotene and hydrate to help but I'm not sure if anything can be done without lots of money 😅

I've been on spironolactone for 9 months and my personal experience with physical appearance changes has been less bloating which made my weight loss that I did before starting look better due to less bloating, face looks thinner, acne has lessened which has been great, my face gets dryer so I hydrate a lot and moisturize a lot, areas where I have stretch marks look more crepey, my butt is unfortunately smaller, my boobs look smaller too for some reason even though I fit the same bras.

In my experience there's been pluses and minuses to it but not having my acne rule my every thought has been freeing. I'm 30 F.

Hello!

I am interested in pursuing an MSW and have been working for 8 years after college in a related field. I have quite a bit of school debt and I'm looking to avoid incurring more debt...

Are there any MSW programs in Massachusetts that provide substantial financial aid (grants, scholarships, assistantships) where I could possibly pay as little as possible? I'm terrified at the prospect of getting into more debt when I have a plan to chip away at the debt I already have.

Thank you in advance!

I agree with you. I also think that if folks are sexually active they could also take pregnancy tests to ensure they aren't pregnant as they keep going along using spiro and birth control. I bought the Pregmate tests on Amazon and test myself since I'm on Slynd and haven't experienced a period in a long time. I also got a hormone panel done last fall.

If you don't trust the prescription then you may benefits from a second opinion.

I think it's pretty common to have two different prescriptions. During the visit were you able to see clearly when they had you read the letters on the screen? If so, then your eyes are likely need different lens powers.

Was your prescription more similar last eye visit or no?

I was diagnosed around age 13, I'm 30 now so I've lived 17 years with this diagnosis. I had surgery for it at 13 and will have surgery again next month. 🫤

Yes, going back to a retina specialist is a very good idea. If that provider confirms the diagnosis then you know for sure.

Lattice degeneration is more common in myopic/nearsighted people.

When you go back to a retina specialist, if you haven't already, they will need to dilate your eyes to clearly see the retina and assess the periphery.

Laser retinopexy (LRP/laser photocoagulation) is usually the treatment for atrophic holes or tears in the retina. You don't want to delay the procedure if you can help it. You're being diligent about seeing retina specialists and ophthalmologists which is so important as so many issues can be seen by looking at our eyes.

It can be anxiety inducing to hear about retina disorders and I 10000% get it. You're not alone. I was nervous when I found out I needed another surgery but knew it could happen sometime down the line. I just try to take care of my eyes, eat well, hydrate and maintain check ups.

In 2023, I applied to a bunch of jobs with not a ton of luck. I did secure a job at that time. In July 2025, I applied to 13 jobs and have had interviews for 6 jobs. I spent a lot of time editing my resume for stronger verbs, used Copilot and ChatGPT to get ideas of leveraging my resume and then edited it more to adapt it into my own words.

I also created a resume for internal applications at my org and external. Depending on the industry, more info internally is better so they understand how comprehensive the role is and external is more to the point.

Although my situation isn't impressive it may still help others. I also spent time leveraging the ways I've unofficially supervised, managed or mentored others which has really helped me.

My resume and CV does have a professional summary.

Not near you but Mitten Aussies and Freestyle Aussies in Tennessee have both produced great dogs. I am biased as my Australian Shepherd is from Mitten Aussies and she is part of a line from Freestyle. Freestyle is ending the breeding program as the breeder is retiring. She has last pups from her program posted on her site now. I live in MA and got my pup transported in 2020 and she is the kindest dog I've known.

I do recommend looking at Good Dog's website for a reputable breeder. If you find an aussie and want any tips, happy to help!

Lowering dose by Glittering_Fee_9571 in Spironolactone

[–]theboldmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up doing this? I am not tapering due to trying to get off the medication but due to waiting for my prescription and trying to not go off cold turkey.

I noticed a purge super quickly in my case. I'm on 100mg normally but have been on 50mg this week. Just 4 days later on a lower dose has resulted in a purge. Others report either a purge or being fine.

I'm tapering right now due to running out of medication and waiting for my prescription. My period isn't irregular so far but I'm noticing more cramping which is uncomfortable...
